Dodge challenger pricing announced
So the big question is do you think the 375 hp rt is going to be worth 30k?
So overall how do you feel about the pricing?

Pewter- 2001 Camaro SS hard top
i think they are shooting themselves in the foot, what does a GT mustang go for base? $24,900 or somthing like that. the need to be alittle closer to that with the R/T than $29,900. same goes fot the new camaro imo, pricing will be a down fall for that to

The base model challengers 22k price is good....considering that's with the destination charge and it has IRS which is good for a V6 car. They also have the lifetime powertrain and that 2.99 gas deal...dunno if that gas card applies to cars though.
The RT is a couple grand overpriced IMO...the SRT is way over priced and damned near vette territory price wise. The good thing though is DCX is known for huge discounts...after awhile there will be good deals out there.

I don't think the gas card applies to their gas guzzling vehicles, like the Viper, Charger, Pickup trucks, etc, and most likely the Challenger.
Price seems to be expected though for what you're getting. That's a sweet looking car. From the outside anyway... the interior leaves some to be desired...

So basically 20k+ gets a six cylinder that gets crappy gas mileage due to the weight of the car, 30k gets decent performance, and 40k buys what I want.
Hey, cars today are that expensive purchased new. I know it sounds outragoeus but 40k for a decent sized car with plenty of power and a decent ride, brand new from the dealer, is not out of line.
And maybe the 6cy won't do as poorly as I suspect in gas mileage. It isn't hard to get 30mpg out of a charger with a 6 so maybe the Clhallenger will do ok....
So I think to myself.... A nicely equipped Prius that really does get 50mpg, and really does seat 4 with a hatch back and decent (not great) radio, bluetooth, and is slow as a turd..... when looking at a Challenger for somewhere in the same price range that probably will get 25-25 mpg, with better performance and handling, and certainly looks more stylish.....
At what point doe the price of fuel become the determining factor.....
Is it $5.00/gal? Is it $7.00/gal? At some point most of us will not care about anything other than being able to afford fuel and iunsurance. Heck I have to buy heating oil for this next winter and I'm really not looking forward to it, even with a prepay...2002 Street ET Champion New England Dragway

The R/T is prced right but the SRT-8 come on there getting inot vette teritory. anytime an automaker does that they better bring it and this falls short.

10 years ago, they were charging over 30k for a WS6, SS and Firehawk.
fast forward 10 years later with inflation 40k is not out of line.

90% of people that buy these things don't mod and have no clue as to anything about what is under the hood or track times. They just want a V8 sports car and know very little about the difference, so they are going to go with the cheaper one (and it's suites the purpose).
I've had a number of people with late 90's stock Mustangs and some people withstock 350Z's tell me they can blow me out of the water. Why? Cause they have no clue the difference, they just think it's fast, because it is to them.

Pewter- 2001 Camaro Z28 M6
price to me doesnt matter, i would never buy a mopar. the only time mopar was good, was back in the 60s.
my 1965 plymouth valiant was one hell of a car.
my gf had a 98 dodge avenger, trans went out, paint crapped out and a front wheel fell off while she was driving.
