Having worked for Chrysler and GM for the past 11 years.... I'd say buy what you want, it's your hard earned money and US dedication to quality just isn't there yet.

i prefer general motors just because i am brand loyal to chevrolet

    but...

if there is an import out there that would catch my eye and i could afford and had the features that i was looking for in a car and was reliable, good mileage, etc i dare say i'd be all over it. hell...toyota is an import car and they're made here in the US.

my camaro and my monte carlo were both made in canada and my g/f's cavalier was made in mexico. so which one is the import...the toyota...or the chevy...the lines are blurring.

I've owned a couple of VW Baja's, VW Fastback and I currently own an Alfa Romeo. But, those are the only 'foreign' cars I have ever owned.

I would prefer to buy American.

However if it means sacrificing 5 mpg or 50,000 miles of life expectancy, or whatever for more or less the same car and price...I'm not going to kick myself in the balls that hard..

even not that many foreign companies are doin it, but all the companies need to focus on diesel powered vehicles, much better option than gas, it would help decrease our dependence on oil if more diesel trucks and CARS were out on the roads, and it doesnt take an engineer to figure it out either, its all a fuckin game

thats why diesel has gone up past the price of gas, because they dont want car companies to make diesel powered cars because the oil companies know that car companies won't put the time and money into a car that the average person sees as "more expensive" to drive, when in fact its not all about MPG its about CPM cost per mile the simple combination of MPG and price per gallon

cost for one gal of fuel / average MPG = $ for each mile driven

diesel CPM > gas CPM for all applications, thats still saying a lot since diesel SHOULD and HAS BEEN cheaper for a long time

    my .02

what were we talking about again?

No. You'll find better cars from companies that didn't originate in America.

Its kind of hard not to buy an import. My wife had a Chrysler Sebring that turned out to be mostly Mitsubishi and assembled in Mexico!

You'll have people totally flip over buying imports... sending money over seas, taking work away from the usa, etc... I have owned dodge stealths, the only imports for me, but were made for dodge. Not sure if that makes it better. And my stratus r/t is basically a mitsubishi. I don't think it's wrong, but just helps out foreign countries while ours fall further in the hole.

I'm not even going to get in to it with you......or anyone else. Regardless of "where they are built", to me, it's obvious where the money goes.

i could care less if they assembled it in china... as long as it looks the same and so on..
