If it crashed into the ocean as was widely speculated, things were bound to wash up on shore at some point. Looking at the ocean current diagrams, this does rule out the possible northern flight path as well. Still a needle in a haystack as far as finding the aircraft itself (or what is left of it), but at least this could bring some closure to those that were clinging to unrealistic hopes. I think if the plane ever is found, it will be because some other expedition of some sort stumbles upon it.
