    Credit Cards...

I think its about time i get one. I don't currently have one (just a debit card) and never looked into getting one cause i couldn't trust myself with one but now i think i can manage one. I mainly just wanna have one in case a emergency pops up and i need the extra cash. I won't be purchasing random things with it just cause i WANT them but I'll be getting things that i NEED if i can't pay for them now. So what do you guys recommend? What are some good trustful cards with low interest that wont kill me I don't think I'll have trouble getting one cause i do have a mid 700 credit score so that shouldn't be a problem right? You do need good credit to qualify for one right?

You NEED those new heads and cam, right?

You don't need good credit to get a credit card, but in order to not get a nasty rate and to get a decent limit the good credit helps.

I don't recommend Chase. Their one of my least favorite banks. Discover is a good card to use on a regular basis from what I hear. It's a good card to use and pay back monthly, but I think not so great if you need it for an emergency and need a while to pay it back. Even at that, I don't think their rates are outrageous.

I have two cc through chase and I couldnt be more happy. I think chase (at least when I got my cards a few years ago) is the best.

Get one with a low limit so you can't put yourself in a ton of debt

As long as It's a Mastercard you usually can't go wrong imho.. We've had Citi (master) for a long time excellent service and a desent rate.. We had Capital one years ago as our first credit card.. What a joke for us, so much so that we closed out all accounts that were affiliated with Visa including bank accounts..

Check with your bank about a credit card and shop around a bit for the best rate in case you do float a balance. I probably use my Capital One card the most for on-line purchases and hotel rooms. Make sure you do not miss a payment. Once you have a card and make a few payments, the credit card offers will come rolling in. I really do not like the fact that a lot of credit card companies also send you checks in the mail trying to get you to make purchases and such. Just use your head and don't overspend your disposable income -- it is very easy to get in trouble with plastic.

Coming from a 22 year old who has paid off over 6K in CC debt, be responsible.

    I have a discover card.

I pay it off each month and they keep increasing my credit limit which I won't ever reach anyway.

And I have $24 in rewards and the faggots won't let me redeem it until I have a total of $50 in rewards. This is a pressing issue in my life.

I too have a mid-700 credit score but can't imagine what I need that for, I don't have shit I want to buy, or the money to buy potential wanted shit anyway.

^^ Good point. Some cards have "rewards" which actually may be useful. My State Farm Bank card earns State Farm Dollars that I can apply to my monthly insurance statement with a phone call.

I have an Amex blue sky, it's cool good rewards. I use my credit cards for gas and other random things. I pay my balance off each month. I also have a visa from bofa. Credit cards are good to have as long as you can be responsible. I bought my finace her engagement ring on my Amex. I could have paid with my debit card, but why? I'd rather get the points. I checked my points balance last night and I have over 1,000 towards any type of travel related expense.

Yeah. I also get discounts for online stores for loads of brand stores I don't shop at. Other cards you get skymiles and stuff. OP should look around to see if there's anything useful for him.

I'm sure if I were a rich bastard that spent money all the time and racked up a large amount of rewards it would be sweet, but $24 as a result of 2 years of spending (that I can't even use) isn't that impressive lulz.

The company I used to work for allowed us to buy equipment and supplies on our personal cards. Pretty sweet deal I put through like 50k in 09 alone. My bro was the controller of the company and we worked for our uncle. That's how I got a ton of points.
