Your local GM dealer is a good place to start.

    Mexican killed my car

www.gmpartsdirect.com used to have the LS2 priced cheaper than the LS1. I'm not sure if it is still like that or not but it's worth a shot.

They aren't cheap! My buddy found a wrecked 99 Vette and bought the engine, all the pulleys, accessories and the computer for under $2500 bucks, and it only had 19,000 miles on it.

Best bet is to wait for a lsx member to have wrecked thier lsx and buy the engine if its still good. You wil not get a crate motor with 0 miles on it for cheap.

Why isn't it worth $7200 brand spankin new? Try to put together an old school all-aluminum 350 Chevy and see what it costs. You might be surprised.

I just have heard of people getting them for around $5,000-$5500. I think I'm going to go with an LS2, found one for $5400 brand new. I know I will need a different wiring harness and trottle body, but will everything else work? Will I just be able to put it in and fire it up other then the stuff I know i will need?

If you're willing to spend $7K on a motor get yourself a shortblock from SLP and a set of Patriot Performance Heads........you would at least have forged parts and still be under the $7K budget......the only thing I'd get from a junk yard would be the pulleys......you take a chance when you buy an engine from there......LSx motors dont take too well to roll overs and I assure you the guys there wont be too quick to tell you that one has been rolled.......I built a LS2 402 from SLP with Stage III heads for my car and put a 76mm turbo on it and I have no regrets.......
