It's quick launch in the toolbar. Right click on the task bar and open the toolbar and check the quick launch if you want them back.
You can also drag any other links there that you want. I keep my desktop clean of icons and use my quick launch instead. I keep my task bar double wide

Same here, vista for awhile now. It's a resource hog, but all good so far.

I've had Vista Ultimate 64 bit for over a year now. I like it, but there are a lot of things that did not like the transition.
Such as my scanners, or really any other older equipment that I had. But, I think that has more to do with the 64 bit than the Vista...

I see... mine came with a new HP laptop, and I run pretty much barebones, so maybe that's why it has yet to be an issue...

Well, mine is an HP laptop too. It's a custom build. But the 64 bit gives a few challenges to mostly 32 bit running softwares and other items as well. But, I have learned to live without a few until they get their drivers up to speed.
But, it's a fast system and that is what I wanted

I have to say that I really wasn't a fan. I've steered clear of HP for many years. Although, my PPC is an iPAQ, and my wireless printers are both HP.
But, I had bad experiences with my Desktops way back when. So, I just started building my own back in 2000. Just by pass all the preloaded crap and deal exclusively with the OS.
But, when I was looking at a new laptop last year, it was between Toshiba and as it turned out... HP. I got more with the custom build for about the same price. I paid almost $2,500 for it but I have to say... I've had very few problems with it. There are some things I could do without. Mostly HP software like Quick Play and the like.
So, HP is not on my shit list anymore

I love it now But, it was somewhat of a challenge at first. I sometimes think I should have gone with the 32 bit.
Funny, cuz now when I fiddle with one of my XP systems... I barely remember how to get around LOL!
