just go to the for sale area. Get one for $100 or something, it's gonna cost a boat load more than that to get a new one. Probably won't hit your deductible though.

Your insurance probably won't cover this anyhow.

There is no coverage for mechanical failure or user error.

    Why did it fall out?

Hide the other one and tell your insurance company that you left your windows down and the t tops unlocked and they were stolen.

This is how I see it: I've paid them 1000s of dollars over the years just so the state gives me the right to drive my car. So somehow, someway, eventually I want to get something back from them.

Not a good idea........and plus the insurance company reps aren't dumb. Did I mention I work for an insurance company in the fraud department? Your insurance coverage is there incase of a real accident so you, your car, your family, friends, are covered. Like life insurance, you pay, pay, pay, and pay......and one day unfortunately your family will need it.

Like I said.....and you wonder why insurance rates are so much.....point is....why sell your integrity for something like that...

I do believe insurance will cover this......just not sure how they will classify it.....it may very well go under collision but not counted as a "at fault" accicent.....I mean that way you could legally get a new t-top and a new wing......all for $500........then again it might fall under comp but I just dont think so...

there was no accident so i dont see how they could possibly use collision. By the very meanng collision would have to involve me hitting something or someone hitting me, neither of which happened. I have to talk to them tomorrow... im gonna be pissed if they try and say its covered under collision...

    you are correct!

they will cover it... if they don't then switch insurance companies because that is bs if they wont cover it. its not like you dropped the t-top on your car, and it scratched your wing and then fell on the ground and broke. it was not your fault and you had no control over the situation

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

welcome to my world-happened to both sides on mine 1 year apart. My insurance covered my tops each time for free b/c of KY insurance laws. Your insurance might not help, but see if they have a glass coverage clause first. It should be warrantied-and fight them on it b/c this is a common problem.

The problem comes from you and previous owners latching the tops down. What happens is when the pin extends from the t-top, it slides into holes on the A pilar and B pilar. Inside those holes are brackets that are screwed into the frame. Those screws can loosen over time when the t-top is set in place, then latched, b/c the pin pushes against the brackets [maneuvering itself into the bracket's grip, creating friction]. That friction overtime pushes those brackets away from the pins to the point that they aren't holding the t top down any more.

For the time being, masking tape a garbage back to it and/or keep in indoors. Good luck

Had a smiliar thing happen... was drving my Camaro with a buddy of mine. He was in the pass seat and as we were traveling at 65 and he looked up and grabbed the handle and asked what this does.. I told him it was the t-top release and not to -- but before I could finish my thoughtt.. he pulled the handle and WHOOSH the t-top disappeared... fwatching the rearview for shattered glass all over the road... nothing was there.. then he said to slow down this thing is getting heavy! :O He held onto the t-top going 65 miles per hour without it hitting the car or damaging itself! But never had a t-top come off any of my 3 cars.....by itself anyway...
