Cheyenne is back
If you love sport trucks, you'll love this.
Chevrolet has sent the Silverado to the gym. The Cheyenne concept is a trimmed-down, muscled-up take on Chevy’s new pickup aimed at the street performance crowd.
The regular cab truck is powered by the new 420 hp version of the 6.2-liter V8 the Silverado shares with the 2014 Corvette Stingray, has the wheels, tires and carbon ceramic brakes from the upcoming track-focused 2014 Camaro Z/28, and gets a lowered suspension with rear stabilizer bar for enhanced handling.
Carbon fiber bumpers, tailgate and cargo box reduce help weight by over 200 pounds to further enhance performance, while a Borla exhaust is added to help announce its arrival at the drag strip or cruise night.
The Cheyenne makes its debut at the SEMA auto show in Las Vegas this week and is only a concept at this stage, but with pickup sales on the rise and similar sporty trucks like the Ford F-150 Tremor and SVT Raptor speeding things up in the segment, something like it or at least the parts to build one yourself could be in the cards soon.

this is too funny for me...my best friend in Jacksonville, FL dropped off a brand new single cab silverado @ vengeance racing a month ago so they could build him the first LTX based forced induction truck...he's going to be doing full suspension, motor, turbos...just about everything you could think of BUT if he would have waited a little longer he could have just grabbed this and bolted on a turbo...

It is a cool idea but now it is a truck that is useless as a truck. I like the SVT raptor because they made it better at being a truck and still made it BA.

how would you classify it as useless...? its still got a bed and you could tow a car or a giant boat with it...you obviously cant take it off road, but its 2wd anyway...so even if it was 3 feet off the ground you would still be limited. This is a sport truck...the raptor was a trophy truck that was not released to the public until it made it through a baja race. HUGE difference...

You can't offroad, because of height, lack of 4WD and tires. Depending on the suspension they use you might not even be able to load the bed up as it will far exceed the ratings of the bed load capacity and tires. Same goes for towing, towing depends on many factors, not just hp. If the suspension and tires cannot support that much weight on the rear, the tow rating wil lbe low. It is 2wd as you mentioned which makes it suck not only off road but in snow as well. Hey looks its a truck you can't haul a lot of weight in, drive offroad or drive comfortably for 4-5 months out of the year (up here in the midwest anyway).
But hey to each their own. I have definately stopped and starred at a few muscle and sports trucks in my day.
Personally though if I had the money I would get a silverado/sierra 2500 4 door with the 6.5 foot bed and the 6.2 liter v8. You can order the 6.2 in almost any GM truck and it still makes 420hp.Last edited by Zinergy; 11-04-2013 at 09:17 AM.

Lightnings weren't 4wd either and still plenty useful as a truck.

It's a much better truck than the SS454 was.
