cash for gold.... (worth it?)
Has anyone ever tried the cash for gold advertised everwhere... Not the mail order shit, but the local legit jewelery stores that advertise it. I don't believe I am going to get rich off what I got but I got no use for it now.
Or is the cash for gold places more like a glorified pawn shop?

Clark Howard told me that any cash for gold commercial is complete bullshit and that I should stay far far away, so I will. I suggest you take his advice as well.

here's my take:
Most of the time, if you have enough gold to consider selling it, you must have fucked up somewhere with your money, therefore you are a dumb ass and will fall victim of the low budget cash for gold commercials / ads....

JESUS CHRIST!!! Its super easy, here are the steps:
A: Break into house
B: Rip off anything you can get, mainly gold
C: Send it in
D: They don't pay, hunt them down and kill them
E: They pay, you go to the bar and get plastered
F: (IF) they pay, pick me up before "E" and lets rock

I read an article about them in playboy from a person that used to work there but quit.
He said they would send people 25% of what the gold was really worth. And if anyone complained, they would argue and argue on the phone, then agree a little bit more cash, 40% and people would take that and be happy. All the while they made off like a cheshire cat with a canary. I mean, THEY have your gold, THEN you get paid. They hold your shit man. It is a ripoff. STAY AWAY!

Use your noggin'....someone has to make money off of it, and it's not going to be you.

this is my theory:
you can always tell a town/city is about to go down hill once you see these stores:
-pawn shops
-cash for gold
-payday advance loans
-dollar stores
they are all rip off, and set up for people struggling with money and or cant manage their money.

can you take it to places that actually make their own jewelery? My mum does that every time she travels to visit my bro in the middles east. The gold their is much pure and has so much carrots that even Bugs Bunny would flip a nut, and they'll give you great trade in deals if you're buying from them.

you wont get anywhere near melt value if you take your scrap to one of those places. If you have a lot of scrap, it would be best to send it to a refiner. PM me if you want some info on reputable refiners. now would be a good time to cash out on any gold scrap/bullion because gold is about to tank 10% or so IMO. I dont agree with sszosossaes take on having accumulated gold as an investment at this point, as it is currently at all time highs.

Whenever economies decline, the price of heavy metals increases.
The theory is it becomes more "valuable" because it has tangible substance.
Once we clear this recession I'd bet OPs $500 ring the value of gold decreases.
