Cash for Clunkers.......
If you own a 98-02 6M Fbody pay attention. Every one else please avert your eyes.
Just checked it out and looks like our precious cars are safe from that engine seizing car shredding program. So according to the US govt 98-02 6M Fbodies are too fuel efficient to be scrapped.... however no V8 powered mustang can claim the same.......
A moment of silence for those less fortunate muscle cars.

While I am not saying my Stang is superior to any LSx engine.. I do get 24+ mpg on the highway..That in itself is sorta sad tho.. My old 01 SS, cammed, geared and stalled A4 got 25 with the AC on 100 ish more horse and an auto and it pulled better MPG..and better ET's. Ain't that a

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
I was at a restaraunt, and some guy was just getting out of a 1920-something Ford. So i asked him, "hey man, ju hear about that cash for clunker program" he didn't take to kindly to it

If I remember his LS1 car was giving him troubles and he needed something newer... You have to admit, GM had nothing in the $25,000-30,000 V8 Sport car range, either did Dodge. So for the longest time, only choice was Mustang GT... I test drove one and enjoyed it, would take one if they give me one cheap enough.

Yeah, I tried for two weeks to get this Burnt Orange 06 GTO.. but they wouldnt budge off of 23 k... So I settled on my 07 GT/CS for 18k.. I like it well enough..Fun to drive, comfy and all. I just hang my head when an LS anything wants to play..Some of you may remember when I posted about my old Camaro spanking me weeks after I traded it in Ahahaha funny stuff.

So, I didn't really read into this...is there any possibilty for someone to buy these cars that are being traded in? Cause if I see a really old muscle car I would love to snatch it up.

Well dont bank on this lasting much longer. They're having trouble find more funding since it went broke like last monday lol..You may want to start hitting up the lots for good buys real soon..

I almost bought an 07 or 08 GT Convertible louaded with a 5-Speed. This was cheap enough, I test drove it 3 times, the third day they just let me take it the entire day. I had them down to $16,500 with extended warranty. It only had 13,000 Miles, same color as yours. Had the payment lower then I wanted, inssuarce was cheaper then expected for full coverage. They even said they will throw in a free 3 year maintance plain, and have a ford racing exuast and intake installed, since I like the sound of the Saleen they had. Only reason I backed out of it was, I decided I did not want payments. Kinda wish I bought it... Would have been a smart move, would had it paid for in 2-3 years... Hell probably could have talked them down more, lol.

ok C4C deets.... the car being traded in must have a combined gas mileage of 18Mpg or less and must be less than 25 years old. the car must be driveable and have been titled to the current owner for more than 1 year.
Now for the sad part. When a C4C car comes in the dealers must drain the oil from the car and put a silica, sand solution into the car, this solution hardens with heat. After that they run the car at 2k+ RPM's till the engine siezes. this is to prevent resale of any C4C vehicle. the cars are then scrapped and no parts are sold or reused. the scrap value of the metal is added onto the incentive on the purcase of the new vehicle as part of the program.
I had something else in mind but got totally distracted since i started writing this post 20 mins ago.... if i think of it i'll post it later

I have a brilliant idea. Why don't you all read the rules and then you can end your speculation? http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2...15/465950.html I feel like I just hit the Staples easy button. Plus I posted this a week ago.

thanks Goat-E. I tried to simplify the process by posting a quick rundown of what happens to C4C cars. I guess people aren't really reading it thoroughly. It's sad how many good engine blocks are being destroyed for this stupid program
