What are some cool/fun places to visit in northern Cali?

I am thinking about going to the Oakland/San Jose/San Francisco area in July with this new girl I'm talking to.

The Sequoia National Park? Or however thefawk u spell it. I think you might be right. That would be cool and I'm a big photography person so it would make for some nice photos.

Crescent City is cool for that small fishing town vibe if you're into that. Right on the edge of the redwood forest and the pacific ocean. Not a whole lot to do, but enough to hold your interest for a weekend, plus it's one of the most relaxing places I've ever been.

Drive the Avenue of the Giants. Small alt route to the main highway (101) that goes for around 30 miles (I think...might be longer). Takes you right through the redwoods, and lots of stops for pictures/trail wandering.

Avoid downtown Oakland...you and the girl will both get raped. Probably by the same big black dude. Worst part is...after he's finished, you'll still be stuck in traffic.

yosemite natl park
lake tahoe
san francisco
avoid oakland alltogether, nothing to see there anyway

I like both Nature and Architecture. How about Napa Valley?

Go to southern cali there's nothing to do here. Apple hill over by placerville is nice with good food/wine/scenery but it's boring...same for napa valley. Stay away from sacramento/oakland...san fran is nice but you might catch aids.

it's cool if you like driving on cool roads (you're taking your car, right?) just for the heck of it or if you're into wine tasting (watch for dui)
I just like to drive/ride on awesome curvy roads so I like napa area and all mountain passes, cool views in the sierras too, hwy108, hwy4, hwy89

I won't be taking my car...flying out. If I lived closer I might consider it, but I am all the way in Indiana and half of the week I would be off would be used in driving out there. I wouldn't mind seeing some pics at all. Thanks for the recommendations!

Just over 49 hours to Seatle from Pittsburg non-stop sept for gas.. That includes taking the Chicago buisness loop durring rush hour.. Enjoy your trip bro..

How long you plan on staying, and where is this girl you met? There are tons of things nature wise to see here in northern Cali, if you are going to be in the bay area yosemite is far away but certainly worth going to.

Probably a week. She lives in Chicago now, but her family/friends (where she is originally from) is the San Jose area.
