    C7 Z06 Vs GTR Nismo

Not good for the "most capable Corvette ever".

This car is just...REALLY loose...except for the brake zone. Fantastic in the brake zone. Loved the noises, I enjoy the manual shifter and I don't think it slows it down very much..but the handling is just cookoo. I'm surprised, shocked that it's slower..so much slower than the GTR in a straight line- it's not supposed to be.

I'm not worried in the slightest. People are not going to buy their cars, and leave them stock anyway. The folks that do, quickly find themselves in the rear view.

Maybe the car he was given was pre-production...similar to what happened when he tested the Gen V Viper against the ZR1?

Or maybe the 600hp GTR is an amazing car.

He carried a lot more speed out of the corners with the GTR. This is probably one of the reasons the new ZR1 might be a mid engine car.

It is, but it's not really fair comparing a $150k car to a $100k car.

However, comparing the $100k car to an $80k car IS fair, so the Hellcat smackdown still stands on its own merits.

I've driven one and I was very very VERY impressed. With as big as it is, it should not drive like it does...Nissan nailed that car and thats coming from a guy who is far from an import fan.

I really don't see it like that. I see it as GMs best vs Nissans.

You drove the new Nismo model? Or a gtr? Eitherway both great cars. I never got to drive one but I have bene in a GTR and they do feel great.

I'd like to see some more comparisons done at different tracks, etc. His comments are based on that specific car, and not repeat tests. Different day, different car, etc. GM even has recommended "track alignment" settings in the user manual. Who knows if they were set on that car prior to the test. Many different variables...

But do you think the GTR was setup for track use...? Sure you could probably tweak the Z06 and squeeze some seconds out of that run but the GTR didnt have any prep to my knowledge.

I don't know, I would assume not. I don't know how much of a difference it would have made anyway. The video stated that the suspected cuprit is the massive spoiler, but when they took it off the car wasn't as stable and speed gains were minimal.

I've heard the down force be used as an excuse a few times now...in fact, I heard that it was the reason the hellcat pulled it when it came to high speeds on that highway pull you posted. They said that the Z06 has so much down force that it actually slows the car down in the higher mph ranges.

So it has enough downforce to slow it down at higher speeds but not enough downforce to keep up with a GTR around the corners. Sounds perfect.

I'm was never really into Porsche...but this morning I was next to a silver 911 Turbo S on the way to work. That is a damn nice car. The guy turned down towards the medical center so I'm guessing he might be a doctor. I got on the website...189k base price. The one I built came to 204k
