Broke the GTO........

Well i broke my GTO. I was on interstate just cruising and it started tapping. So i pulled over and noticed it was coming from the driver side head. So i took the cover off and saw a broke spring. Took it out and pulled the pushrod out. It isnt bent. Tried to push the valve in an out and it barely moves. Valve stem is chewed up a bit as well. But the good thing is it didnt drop. So im hoping that it didnt hurt the piston. Im going to tear it down this weekend and figure out the damage. But im going to sell it after i get it fixed. Not because of the problem but im starting to realize that i need a DD and a race car instead of a racecar for a DD. So im going to sell it and buy a DD cash then by another Srt-4 to play with. Instead this one wont be a stock turbo. And this is pretty much set in stone. Ive been thinking about this for a long time. Its cheaper notes and on insurance too and it would take me a while to save up for a DD. Plus i want to really get back into the turbo game and this is the cheapest way and i already know alot about the Skittle platform. If i want a house before the end of the summer i need to get my priorities straight. I LOVE my GTO though....but ill be back in the RWD game one day.

Comp Blue stripe 918s. Someone said they are having issues with them and are covering damage costs...but i dont know how true that is

What cam??? I thought your cam was over .600" lift. If so...that is the problem. Those springs are rated to .600".

Also, Comp did have a bad batch go out. 1.5-2 years ago. Call them on it...see what happens.

Ohhh, in that case, so much for that warranty kicking in.

I immediately thought you wanted to get rid of it cuz of the gas prices.

Right at the limit of those springs.

I bet you got a bad one from that batch.
Replace the springs...see if that does it. Hopefully nothing else is damaged. If it didn't drop the valve...it may be okay.

Yup.....let us know what they say because they had issues with a "batch" of bad springs being reported around the interweb....

Sorry to hear about it.....I think its an Easy fix.......I have to pull the tranny in the next week or so, and put in a new clutch......you help me and I'll be glad to help you....

They seem to have a bad batch every year
