Brakes need help
I have a friend that is getting all of his brakes replaced on a 97 dodge pick up. The shop is qouting him $1300 to replace the brake pads, rotors, callipars, etc. The whole works.
Does this sound resonable to you?
thanks

Sure does when you factor in the shops % that they put on top of the parts. Here is an example... you can buy a rotor at Napa yourself for say $45 and the same shop is going to charge you $90. The small shops make a lot of money by marking up the parts. Have your friend check with the shop and ask them if he brings his own parts will they do the work and just not warranty it. Most warranties on brakes are bogus anyway because you still have to pay the labor again. The pads are cheap.
My older car, a shop wanted $1100 to do all the brakes. I bought all the parts at Napa (same place the shop gets them) for $400 and another shop charged me $200 to do the labor. I saved almost half price, walked out without a warrenty but it is really hard to mess up a brake job anyway.
