Best James Bond Movie Tournament, Round 1

In celebration of the James Bond movie franchise's 50th anniversary, I thought it might be interesting to have a James Bond movie tournament to select the all-time BEST James Bond movie. The rules of the tourney are as follows:

    1) There will be 5 "elimination rounds" to chose the best movie of each of the Bond actors to portray the character more than once (Connery/Moore/Dalton/Brosnan/Craig)

    2) The winner of the 5 elimination rounds will advance to the "Finals" along with George Lazenby's single movie. So, we'll have 6 choices in the "Finals" round to choose from.

    3) I will be posting one poll a day for each Bond series.

With that said, round one will be selecting the best of the 7 Sean Connery Bond installments. And after you vote, feel free to post comments about why you voted the way you did, etc.

I voted for goldfinger. It holds a place in my heart as it was the first bond movie I ever saw when I was very young. After Dr.No the budgets got bigger and I think goldfinger was a bit more refined. Aston finally agreed to let them use the DB5 which I think most agree is the most iconic bond car. That movie also put Aston on back o nthe map as far as consumer sales go. Everytime I watch it now it takes me back to a time that I wish I could have been a part of. Back when you could walk through a hotel lobby and smoking a cig. Back when a small car was 16 feet long. Back when you could straddle a woman in a barn and she would just give in and let you have your way with her. Sean Connery's performance was great for the era. Also the name Pussy Galore was used.

I agree with everything you said and have Goldfinger as a close second behind Dr. No. For some reason, Ursula Andress is considered to be one of my favorite Bond girls (next to Eva Green) and her walking around looking the way she did is hard to overcome for me.

Keep in mind, I'll be posting up the next round the following day.

Timothy Dalton was only in one bond movie.

    But I voted Dr. No.

He was in two, The Living Daylights and License to Kill. Those will be available in round 3.

Too hard to pick just one. Goldfinger and Thunderball were both awesome.
