best deck/fence stain?
all weekend long i've been cleaning my deck of the old stain that was on it. I cleaned it down to the bare wood. I wouldn't wish that job on my worst enemy, i swear I lost a few years off my life from the exhaustion i'm feeling.
That said, what stain company would you suggest? The neighbors on each side of me are telling me conflicting stories. One has Behr [solid color] and said it's performing really well, beading the deck whild his neighbor has Olympic and claims it's not doing the Behr job.
The neighbor on my other side just bought olympic and said he was told it's "the best" compared to like Thompson's b/c it has a 3 yr warrenty.
I've been looking at Cabot from Lowes and can't find any info on their site other than standard marketing BS like "long history of quality" and "made to be walked on!" but nothing comes out and says "this shit will only last 2 months" ya know?

Pecker stains are the best. Lay that wife of yours out on the deck and get busy.
Or use Baer. Either one works.

I used Olympic and it has held up very well on my fence. I haven't touched it in 5 years and it still looks as good as it did the day I applied it. I got the one that said it lasts the longest and applied it by hand rather thickly. I have friends that dispise it but talking to them they put just enough to cover it. I think the way it is applied has a lot to do with how it will last. I'll reuse Olympic but my friends think I just got lucky. We'll see I guess since I'm redoing mine next summer just because its been five years and I think it probably needs it.
