Light pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS vert
Anyone do plastic model cars or airplanes?
I just did a 70 Camaro Z/28 and it was a complete failure. First model I have done in about 25 years or so. My son helped me with it but it was a PITA having to assemble the engine and suspension, painting stuff was easy but it all went south trying to attach the body to the bottom pan. Everything started falling apart. I want to do a WW2 airplane next but I want to weather it like its been through a battle. Anybody else do these crazy things?

I went through a few years where I did a lot of cars....mostly nascar stuff. I enjoyed doing it back then but no time these days with the kids. I'm sure at some point Zach will get into it so I'll revisit it then. Takes a lot of time and patience to do them right. Why were parts falling apart on it? Didn't you glue everything?

Arctic White, red/gray- 1997 Corvette, 92 Typhoon
I have built dozens of models, cars, trucks, planes, boats, sub etc. My dad got me into them when I was a kid. He has probably built hundreds and being a bachelor with grown children he still has the time to build them. Always use the toxic glue... the orange tube. Never the toxic-free blue tube. It just isn't as good.
A few years ago I got into RC cars again. Then I built my first kit car... a Losi 8ight E buggy. It's kind of like a model(minus the glue plus hundreds of dollars)... except it does 60mph when you're done building it.

Silver- 1995 Firehawk
I haven't built a plastic model in many years. There was a time I had hundreds of cars and planes. Making me have the itch to put another one together.
It takes forever to build one right. Painting, then cleaning the paint off where you clue. Waiting for glue to dry. But if you take your time they do come out nice.
Over the past 20+ years I have been more into the RC planes than anything. Different kind of building but the same principles apply.

I built them when I was a kid (late 70's). I was really good at it. Didn't even look at the instructions. I tried building one back around 95 and it turned out terrible. Whatever I had, I lost it. Shit do they even still make models anymore? They used to be in every toy store and Kmart, I don't see them anymore.

seems they pulled them off the shelves when they started pussifying the children.
Michael's and hobby lobby carry them. I have two unfinished 4th gen t/a's in the boxes.

They are still in hobby stores. We really only have hobby lobby or hobbytown usa around here. The local non-chain hobby stores died out. God I miss Greenfield news and hobby.

I have a replica of my exact car still in the box. Have maybe 5 or 6 in total, but never got around to putting them together.....much like my real car

Missing doing models. I have an airbrush and several unfinished car models. Have built military planes and cars. Got really good at it. Now, I just do not have the time. Been working on my basement for 14yrs now building custom bars and such.
Only 34K miles and still counting (that's from Sept '97)

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
I was big on plastic model cars. I still have my paint carousel. Also got into taking my diecast cars apart to detail them(paint calipers, turn signal lenses, exhaust system). Even made my own SAP grilles for my 1/18 diecast 04 GTO.
Only downside was during the winter, with my bedroom windows closed, the fumes were not so fun.
extreme dimensions, driveshaft shop, harrop, hid(35watt/6k) lows, hurst, k&n, led fogs, maverick man, mishimoto, nitto, revshift, slp, stern st-1, smoked sidemarkers, whiteline poly radius rod bushings

I built a lot of WWII planes and vehicles as a kid. My room had a B-17 and a B-29 hanging from the ceiling. Last model I attempted was a sailing ship that just never got completed. Most unique, and one that I also did near the end, was a metal body Model T that really came out nice. Wonder if that is still in my parents' attic?
