    Anybody know about bikes?

I know a lot of us have bikes and I have a pretty rookie question. If your putting on a new muffler/exhaust/pipe do you have to retune the pipe or can you just slap it on?

I have three of them,in general you can get away with just slapping it on.But to get the most out of it you need to have it tuned.

just a slip-on? I don't think you need to rejet for just a muffler. full system you probably should rejet so it's not too lean

slip-on is fine, though why you'd want one is beyond me. I've never figured out why ppl by a ninja in anything under a zx6.

We always change the jets when doing exhausts at the shop. It all depends on the bike tho. Sometimes you can put a slip on system on the bike and it will run perfect other times the bikes will stumble around and fall on their faces untill they get re-jetted.

I would agree but if it's a first bike , it's not a bad move. Even the 600's have alot of power now for the inexperienced rider. Or maybe he just likes it.

depends on the year too? Newer bikes have fuel injection and can typically handle it, but work sooooo much better when tuned to the new muffler/ exhaust. If it is still carbed, then a simple slip on will be fine, do anything more then that you'll probably need it jetted and tuned.

Why worry about the exhaust though?? Should save that money and buy a bigger bike. You will grow probably grow tired of the 500 once you learn to stay on the seat.

it's true, it feel fast now but you'll soon see that you get used to it. I still recomend to ride it for a year atleast and get used to the road. It's not the bike you worry about , it's the traffic!!!
