60's era Mopar (GTX) gurus inside please...
I'm doing some research on a car that a buddy of mine purchased recently.
It's a '69 GTX.
Here's the VIN#: RS23L9G128469
The original engine is not in the car - so finding out if it was a 440 or a 426 Hemi car would be good to know!
I've just now started doing some research for him, so any help on the options this car had would be greatly appreciated!

My friend has a '68 -- it is absolutely badass with a 440.

Blue- Dodge Magnum
What I recall:
R=Plymouth
S=price class, Special
23=2-door hardtop (IIRC, a ragtop would be 27)
I think the "L" is Lynch Road assembly plant and the "9" is 1969, I know 128469 is the build sequence (it started at 100001, this was the 28,469th car built at that plant for MY 1969).

440 is faster on the streets and real life situations. A/c is available with a 440 and no dealing with a solid cam either

Factory 440 car... I'd go to moparts.com and you can get any info you could possible want there. There are fender code decoders online too. I restore them, but I'm not a big numbers guy, so can;t help ya decode it.

You're right on the cam, my mistake. 440 would still stomp the hemi on the streets, especially with all the go-fast parts you could get with the money you saved.
