2015 Mustang will be having a 4 banger

    Yahoo!

There’s a lot to consider when thinking about the upcoming 2015 Ford Mustang. It’s going to have a four-cylinder under the hood, it’s going to have a brand new set of lines, there won’t be a Shelby GT500, and now the Mach 1 nameplate is set to make a comeback, along with a factory-built Shelby GT350. That’s a whole lotta Mustang to take in.
The boys at Mustangs Daily tell us that both the GT350 and Mach 1 will be sitting pretty in the lineup come the 2016 and 2017 model years. This marks the first time the GT350 moniker will be built from a Ford factory since the late 60s, and the Mach 1 returning for the first time in over a decade (2003-2004).
Details on both of these projects are pretty much non-existent at this point (at least not for the general public), but we don’t doubt that both cars should put out some sexy power figures. And look their respective parts as well.

ohhh the jokes that are going to be coming...

It's really not surprising given the recent trend towards better fuel economy. I'm sure it will be a turbocharged unit, and take well to mods. It wont be the slow POS that four cylinder mustangs once were. Probably more along the lines of the cult following of the SVO mustangs of the late 80s, early 90s.

certainly the "four-cylinder under the hood" must be a typo??? the articles linked from the source article didn't mention a four-banger...

I've been hearing Ford has been looking into this for a few years now. Mileage standards - something like this will let them keep a popular body style, kill an unpopular one and more important for them - target/open the European markets. They've been researching the hell out of that market looking for something that will catch on over there. With gas at an unbelievable cost there a high mileage 4 banger is a must.

..also the pic of the mustang in that article looks like a 90's era mustang, ...not the supposed "new" 2015 mustang... i'm just suspicious of the credibility of the article...

I am living in the Netherlands (Europe), our gasprice is 1,70 euro a liter, so this is 6,26 euro a US gallon, 6,26 euro is about 4,81 us dollar
This is why a car with a good gas milage is so important for Europe.

The new Camaro is in the Netherlands 4 times more expensive as in the USA:
the SS-Camaro cost 104.995,00 euro this is 136.500,00 US dollar,
the main reason is the bad fuel economy of the Camaro and the high emission of the engine (in the Netherlands cars with high emissions get a addiction on the price)

My english is not so very good, but i hope i explained it correctly

That's just a photo of the previous 2003-04 Mach I. I assume because the article mentions the return of the Mach I name.

Don't worry boys the Camaro will probably follow suit... There will still be V8s and plenty of trash talking!!!

A turbo four will provide some fun for people wanting to modify a Camaro or mustang that isn't a V8 car.

Regarding the "Shelby" GT500 Cobra - I've heard the name Shelby will no longer be in use after the model year 2014. Some legality issues with the family... It will be interesting to see if the name Shelby appears with the GT350 if it is indeed built.
