Performers:
Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artists’ contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll.
The Foundation’s nominating committee, composed of rock and roll historians, selects nominees each year in the Performer category. Ballots are then sent to an international voting body of more than 500 rock experts. Those performers who receive the highest number of votes - and more than 50 percent of the vote - are inducted. The Foundation generally inducts five to seven performers each year.
Non-Performers
Songwriters, producers, disc jockeys, record executives, journalists and other industry professionals who have had a major influence on the development of rock and roll.
Early Influences
Artists whose music predated rock and roll but had an impact on the evolution of rock and roll and inspired rock’s leading artists.

wtf.....
this is the same group or board of people that selected Metallica to be in the hall of fame before black sabbath... Black Sabbath created metal....
immediately when I think Rock Hall of Fame, these bands should be in right away.
(because they altered the course of music)
-kinks (discovered distortion by cutting their speakers)
-beatles (cant stand them but they are crucial to the evolution of music)
-Elvis
-chuck berry
without them we would NOT have the following:
-led zepplin
-jimi hendrix
-black sabbath
-rainbow
-judas priest (leaders of new wave british heavy metal)
-ozzy
-metallica
-nirvana (sadly)
bon jovi, beastie boys, and the rest of that BS list did not alter the course of music, they sold albums thats it.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
You'd've had to have been listening back during the mid-late 60's to have heard Donovan and Neil Diamond (when he was doing rock songs). Both were huge back then. Donovan's "Hurdy Gurdy Man" is one of my favorite songs.
Dr John = Musta been the right place but it musta been the wrong song...
J Geils = very big (huge) in the late 70's early 80's...
Joe Tex and Tom Waits I remember the name but not a song.
The rest (besides AC) = Meh? Who cares....

Tom Waits is very popular with indie people for some reason. I listen to alot of Radiohead and Tom Waits is mentioned frequently with other hardcore Radiohead listeners. I would also with have to agree with those about with groups are a given to be in the Rock n Roll hall of fame. I don't know if these are in, but I would also add...
Little Richard
Elton John
Johnny Cash
Velvet Underground
Brian Eno
Depeche Mode (Yeah, I know some arguments here, but I think they really pushed electronic music to pop music scene instead of it just being some cooky thing.)Last edited by one_entity; 09-28-2010 at 08:52 PM.

<<I was going to point out that I'm 39 but then I google them and now I remember them. Only had 2 songs I recognized. Centerfold and Love Stinks.
I thought the band was pronounce Jake Isles band that is why I didn't recognized the name.
But again, these guys over KISS?!?!?
Me thinks the owners of the R&R Museum must have a long standing grudge against KISS. Maybe Gene bang one of their wives or something or not let them backstage.

i looked through the list and all the years...
good to see Leo Fender and Les Paul in there.. However many other bands where strong R&B and or POP.. some worthy others not IMO.
However since Black Sabbath and metallica are in there, in 5 years pantera better be in.
Yeah pantera release albums in the early/mid 80s, but their first with Phil singing was 1990.
history of hard rock/metal monumental changes goes Black Sabbath, metallica, pantera
Also Pantera Far Beyond Driven - heaviest album to ever debut at #1 on the billboard top 200... I doubt that will ever change.
