    I don't get it.....why did he need a drag chute? It looked like he had oodles of room to stop.

    He wanted to be cool.

    Also, braking at that speed is as dangerous as the drag chute. At that speed, you'll boil the brake fluid if you try to brake, and then it will be useless.

    Not really. It weighs about 3500 pounds and the wheelbase is three tenths of an inch shorter than a firebird. Along with having more downforce and more grip i'm sure. American drag cars with chutes are usually far lighter than that
