2009 Camaro Question

Well as everyone knows, the Camaro makes its return in 2009. I have heard that the new engine will have the active fuel management technology, where only 4 cylinders will be actavated when power is not needed. My question is....
How would a 2009 Camaro sound? Would it sounds like rice when only 4-cylinders are being used?

Wow great Question. I'm sure they will make a kit that will allow you to keep all 8 pistons a working, when you want, but the down to 4 would be nice on a trip. we would just have to remember to flip on all 8 when a ricer gets near.

But is it gonna be a motor greaterthan or equal to the ls2 motor in power wise?

hey i belive i have the answer i drove a 2007 avalanch this morning! with the option to change the cylenders. i doesnt sound like a ricer it sounds more like a vortec v6 with a deeper tone. not bad!

LS2 is supposed to be used, with all 400, if not a little bit more power. LS7 is also a possibility for a limited hi-po model. By then, the LS7 may not be top engine anymore, with the rumored blue devil and its sc'd engine.

from what i have heard is there will be 4 engine options.
1-v6 with 250HP,
2-better v6 with 310hp(i think),
3-v8 with the "8-6-4" deal with 425hp, and
4-s/c-ed v8 with 500+ not sure if this one gets the 8-6-4 thing though

this is just what i have heard about it. it may be incorrect

Just because the motor doesn't fuel or fire the 'shut down' 4 cylinders, doesn't mean it doesn't pull in and remove air.

It may sound a little different when cruising on 4 cylinders, but once you get on it.....all 8!!! YEAH!!

What does rice sound like? No matter what brand of rice I buy, the only sound it ever makes is when I pour it into a cooker.

Doesn't really matter the sound when cruising at 80. It would be a little quieter and better economy.
I am no so worried about the engine design as I am the body and actuall production of the car.

GM needs to pull thier head out and get with it!
