Exclamation 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 - Hopping Up The Challe

2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 - Hopping Up The Challenger

We got an '08 Dodge Challenger for a week and couldn't leave it alone. Watch as we bolt on some parts and give her all she's got on the dragstrip. The wait for the '08 Dodge Challenger release has been long not just for Mopar fans, but for all car freaks. We were teased with the concept car two and a half years ago at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit (coincidentally, the same show we first laid eyes on the new Camaro concept), and over the past 30 months, select folks have gotten to drive the concept, spy shots have been seen, and insider rumors have run rampant. Finally, we were allowed to see the real deal and reveal it four months ago, in the Apr. '08 issue. But that was the show car headed straight for the Chicago Auto Show, and we were barely allowed to touch it. The car you see here is an actual production Challenger, and the Chrysler folks were foolish enough to let us have it, unsupervised, for a full week. Yee-haw!

Saw them at Etown, and the fastest they ran was a 13.86 I believe...completely stock. They sure can do a burnout like a sumbich' though.

I saw this thing on a commercial actually...Isn't it being endorsed by Don Garlitz??? It's some sort or NHRA package that's "race ready."

The magazine I have and read (Muscle Car Milestones) had as their cover story. They said Kenne Bell's giving them a brand new twin-screw supercharger for it, and are expecting 600hp from 8psi boost, and with a smaller pulley, tune, and bigger injectors, upwards of 900hp....if I remember correctly, I'll have to look again.

And it's not the same as the 'drag race package' they will have, that's a separate contract with the NHRA...and it's a totally different car from what I've read: engine repositioned, shorter wheel base, stripped, lightweight body...a factory drag car with a Challenger shaped body...

    And overpriced, of course...
