    2001 SVT Mustang Cobra Conv.

I found one down the road for a hell of a deal. I am very interested in it. It is a 5-Speed, IRS, 4.6 DOHC, pretty much all I know about these cars in general. I know performance wise, they compare to the late F-Body's pretty similar. With the F-Body's being slight faster, but it's really down to the driver. Now, my Trans Am has 113,000 miles. It's been good so far, only had to replace window motors. But I am fixing to be moving on my own and going into the military, in about 8 months. My goal then is to use pretty much invest most of my pay into a house. So I am a bit worried about having a high mileage car when I am in the military, when I am trying to invest in a house.

But here's the jiss about the car I am looking at. I will probably sell my T/A to my mom, to get a hell of a deal on this car. The car has 23,000 miles on it, looks in good shape. Just normal wear and tear around the car. I will check this car over top to bottom, with my stepdad if it's worth it. But what do you guys think?

Does anyone know anything about them, as far as reliability? I still want something fun, for the coming years. But I want something reliable, with regular maintenance. Also, maybe something I can take to the Auto X thing, looks fun. Also, a Convertible sounds nice. Since when ever I rarely do drive the 63 Falcon, I have the top down. So the top will probably always be down, if it's electric.

Also try not to be bias. Think if you wanted something sporty reliable, and low mileage.

They compare base power, but are VERY expensive to mod later on.... And the Verts are Pretty Heavy.

my friend at work has one, he's been having issues with his fuel system, not sure exactly what, but the other day while he was driving his hood flew up and left some minor damage. dont think he left the hood open but its pretty much been a lemon or he's just had bad luck with it.
To me, if your gonna have problems with a car, they could happen anytime, no matter the mileage, i've been lucky with my 99 z28, i've replaced a lot and she has treated me well for having 208,000 miles.

good reliable cars. the accleration also isnt enough of a downgrade for you to be able to call it slow either. but like stated, yes they are expensive to mod after you do all the bolt ons. basic maintenance on those cars is all it takes to go forever

stay up on maintainance and you dont need to drop the t/a there are plenty of high mileage f-bodies running fine. i just dont see any reason to drop the t/a. i guess the biggest factor is if the t/a is paid. i dont expect the payments on the cobra to be lower.

garbage I owned a 01 cobra vert. I sold it with 6000 miles and I had wished I waited and bought a 03 terminator. When I sold the car I went back to a LS1 firehawk. Don't do it.
