1993 Dodge Viper. Offered in trade, thoughts?
Got an interesting trade offer on my 08 Corvette.
Guy with a 93 Viper mint with 26k miles + 6k cash for my corvette with 38k miles
Gonna meet him this weekend but im really just interested in seeing it up close. 1993 seems so ancient now

Not only no but hell no.
Your Corvette is faster and better handling and rides better.....and 10X the build quality.
They are cool but prone to many many problems.
If it was a GTS with the forged bottom end then yes....but this one? Not at all.
They are cool looking but thats about it.

I love the early Vipers, I would definitely rock one, but the guy should be offering you quite a bit more in trade for a 2008 Corvette.
If absolute performance is your primary concern, then you don't want that Viper. But I, personally have grown tired of the chase for power, and have learned to really appreciate unique automobiles. The early Viper is one of my all-time favorites.
That Viper is worth $20k at best...what's your Vette worth, like $40k?

Light Pewter Metallic- y2k 8-cylinder catfish
I would never take that offer. Your '08 is an overall far superior car to the '93 Viper.

Arctic White, red/gray- 1997 Corvette, 92 Typhoon
The 93 viper was cool IMO. Very basic car with a huge powerful(for 93) v10. It will only do one thing better than your vette.... stand out. It is probably slower, definately doesn't handle as well, isn't built worth a shit, is uncomfortable in many ways but it so damn cool and a lot more rare than a vette. Personally I would not do it but I think I would have a hard time not thinking about it a bit.

I'd do it. A 93 viper with 26k miles is rare as all shit and will just increase in value...your vette not so much. If it was going to be your DD i'd say don't do it but i'm pretty sure you have a few other rides sitting around.

Was just interesting to see the offer. Honestly i just wanna sell and then get a z06 in a few years. talked to a guy with an 08 viper and he said people usually asking 25-30 for them and they usually are a nightmare to sell

I'd want a 97 up if I got one. I wouldn't trade my T/A for a 93 so I definitely wouldn't trade your Vette for it.

That dealer is on crack. Base price on a '13 Vette is ~50K. I'd go with 5.0 on this one. It's five years old, and was ~50K new. It's worth 32K-ish.
To the O.P., I wouldn't say that it's the deal of a lifetime, by any stretch. Make this deal only if you feel like you want to keep that Viper for a LONG time, in hopes of it's value appreciating - otherwise, probably not IMHO. Long term, the Viper will hold it's value better.Last edited by FasstChevys; 11-01-2012 at 09:22 AM.

Looks like it was well kept. No interest in buying it outright?
