1988 Corvette, $3,000 out the dealer door.

That's what my stepdad just bought, drove it off the lot for $3,000. Not bad if you ask me. It's black, with gray leather interior. Has about 100,000 miles. It's an automatic, looks fairly loaded. I think it's a hard top, did not see any way for the roof to come out. Runs like a champ, slow as hell though. Needs some work, driver window does not go down all the way, AC does not work, gauges does not work, just about all plastic interior peaces need to be replaces. The paint either needs lots of elbow grease or a paint job better yet.... But it's just a toy, for him to drop a new motor and build from the ground up. But still I don't think it was a bad price...

But my impression from driving it... Slooooower then shit it's self. Brakes are very iffy and weak... The car needs lots of work, but not a bad deal... I would buy it.

you can always put a good motor in there. i'd be more worried about the age and miles more then anything. but for 3,000 if the car doesnt work out for him he didnt spend much.

He already has a 383 LT1, with an LT4 cam and aluminum heads. I forgot what all he has done to this motor. But he plains to put that motor in this vette with a built transmission, rear, and suspension. Then there's talks about a supercharger. But he plains to have a custom paint jab and getting everything working again. We own a custom interior shop, so it will get a nice interior also.

I'd strip it down, yank the interior and rivet on some aluminum door/dash panels, bolt/weld in a cage and a couple of racing seats and hit the track.

You my man are a str8 up Gang-Star!
I like the concave back of the 88 Vette. It just looks tighter IMO. Gives the car the appearance of being more nimble. The convex rear made the Vette look heavier and longer. At least you know the body won't rust.

I always preferred the "convex rear" C4's... dunno exactly why... maybe because subconciously I always knew the ZR-1 was the 1st C4 to get that convex rear, and the LT1/LT4 C4's that had it were > than the L98's (or dreaded "cross-fire injection" motors) with the concave rear.

Now... the fat-ass of the C5 - I always hated. But - similarly - if the C5 has the distinctive Z06-specifics - bigger wheels - brake vents - they are oddly more attractive to me. Those little queues just make it look badass to me.

C6's - I think are exceptionally good looking vehicles, regardless of the trim/performance package.

We where kinda talking, a somewhat serious convo came up. But am unsure, he trade me the Vette plus cash for my T/A. If so, I would get an LS6 crate motor, built transmission, and build the rear. With the money and after I sell Falcon... But IDK, about using this as a DD, would be a kick ass ride, but I would stick with the T/A before so...
