1 reason to live where i live

    just thought i'd share this:

in the firebird/ws6 thread somebody posted a topic about how bad the snow was in their area and how poeple who live in warm climates should be happy.... then i started to say how i live in a messed up place that is the "snowiest" city in the US and how the weather goes from -20s in the winter to 100s in the summer with damn near 100% humidity.

i ended my post going... why the F do i stay here?? and after thinking about it i came up with this as ONE of the reasons... i live only about 10 miles from it and sadly i really don't visit it enough:

how often do you see such a place? i can only imagine the reaction of the first native americans to see it or the first europeans to see it... it looks like a tropical sea in the middle of a forrest...

this is a VERY rare lake in the world.. read up if you like:
    wiki Green_Lakes_State_Park

this spring i'll go and take good pics if anybody has interest

Other side of the story, though...How often do you think you can look at that? In the Winter I'd assume it's not much to look at.

This coming from a Buffalonian who just can't fucking wait to get outta here.

i got a swamp (for real) behind my parents house... about a mile in it there is these areas where the water looks shallow cause of the leaves that are about 2" under the water... make the mistake of walking on there and you might not come back up... cause of the sticks in there it's like being under an icy lake...

Or Lake Erie...Or as I call it, Lake Sludge. You could be right on the beach, at the edge of the water, and you couldn't see your feet, it's disgusting. The smell of it, too....Oh dear god, I'd rather sandpaper the asshole of an aligator in a phonebooth than have that gunk enter my body...

    I was serious.

Damn Hudson river and Coney Island the only (nasty) water I seen in NY.

That's pretty much the only blue/green water in NY. It's supposed to be really, really rare.

Trust me, upstate NY is a shithole. I'd bet that Lake Erie is worse than your hudson.

I haven't touched the car since early November, moved it out of the garage for a few hours on Saturday to get some stuff moved around and man was it nice sitting in it again, can't wait for April.

    Ohhhhhhh hellz yeah we do!

All that "Lake Effect Snow" in the winter that we get from the Lakes turns into 95% humidity during the summer. Can't go outside without breaking a sweat.
