08+ cobalt ss tc or a mazdaspeed3???

lookin at both for a dd even tho i prolly cant afford one. cobalt tc has brembos up front, a trunk and recaro seats and a 5speed. mazdaspeed3 has a hatch which i love me a hatch, 6speed and look better imho. they are both priced similar and have similar hp and acceleration numbers. what would you fellas do?

btw gm interior on a cobalt is just shit, dont know too much about the speed3 cuz i havent been in one yet. i am going with the speed3

Personally, I would probably go with the Cobalt over the Mazdaspeed 3. Those cars are pretty impressive when it comes to performance, I can't lie. But the dealbreaker would be the interior. It's pretty bad, not sure if I would be able to deal with it in something that I had to drive everyday. I also am a little weary about GM's build quality on some of their newer stuff, not sure how well it would do in the long-term reliability category.

I would also consider an 08+ WRX if I were you, those are very nice cars.

For a DD the speed3 will have less rattles with the better interior quality and a smoother ride with the IRS vs the TC's torsion rear...and you said you want a hatch so yea. The TC with recaro seats does have a LSD though.

yeah very true i forgot to metion irs. i just like hatchbacks for capacity and what not.

also speed3's can make easy power with tunes

Nope, use to until the IROC/BlackSS01 battle a few months or so ago. Google it, you should find it

haha yeah no doubt. that is also another reason i made this thread. cant wait for wesman to chime in, i think he dd's cobalt tc.

keep in mind i dont have anything against a cobalt tc, well cept for interior quality. i think the powertrain on one is grade a

I know GM isn't the greatest as far as interiors but I thought they were getting better. Haven't been in a Cobalt just GXP's and such so I can't talk from experience on the models you are comparing.

The cobalt still has one of the most bland cheap interiors out there. The speed 3 is a better DD, more room, better interior and it looks better. But as far as performance goes... its not even close. The cobalt runs .6 faster in the 1/4 if its the one with launch control and no lift shifts. The cobalts fuel system can support 400whp without upgrade. The cobalt will out handle and out stop the speed 3. Mazda has little for mods and doesnt plan to add more, not to mention some speed 3 owners complain alot about oil consumption.

I just got rid if my GTP and picked up a 06 Mazdaspeed 6 and I love it! Interiors on the 6 and the 3 are very similar and mine is awesome. I do not regret my decision 1 bit. pretty decent power and handle very well. cobalts are pretty shittay on the inside ex gf had one and hated driving it. Go for the mazda.

Personally i would go with a subaru oh wait i already did. I cant ever see myself paying 15-25k for a FWD car. Only FWD car I have owned is a 1990 new yorker which cost me 750.00.
