*** It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown October TRAIN ***

Off to a cool start this morning, but looks like a great day for the track. Too bad our Trans Am is 100 miles away. We didn't get word of this outing until we were already on our ride down.

After a summer that has been totally devoid of that burning rubber and high octane exhaust smell, we spent the past two days at the Beaver enjoying the Jalopy Showdown (cool and amazing old cars) and spectating at the Test and Tune (some very fast passes with primo track conditions).

Well the planning House Halloween committee (meaning me) finally came up with this years theme. As much as I'm not so much of a fan of Steven King, I'm going to use the Classic IT as the theme. I got a giant ass spider and I'm going to get a bunch of red balloons and place them randomly thru out the yard scene and I'm lucky that I have a drain in front of the house too. I'm going to have a hand prop with holding a balloon from the drain.

    Should be fun...

Honestly never was a fan of his music style but was still a Rock Legend. Sucks getting old, all your legends of youth start passing.

It was hit or miss for me, but yes, Rock Legend nonetheless. Still, his passing should not overshadow what happened yesterday. I was just in Vegas for a concert in December. Coming from a small town, our paranoid heads were on a swivel while we were there anyway, but nothing could have prepared us for something like that. When there are so many windows on so many buildings, sounds reflecting everywhere, how can you even tell where the madman is? Also it's Vegas, that whole place is one big loud noise to start with...

    Sad news on both accounts.

My mission is to get the '40 back together and off my lift by Sunday. So far, my schedule is keeping me away from it in the evenings. Meeting last night, meeting again tonight and then we have trivia Wednesday night. Pretty much undefeated when we have our team members present. Dawn is always amazed at the useless bits of information floating around inside my head.

4 days at home this week and back on the road again for the third time in the last 2 weeks. Glad my job doesn't normally require this much travel.

It's been more than 3 weeks already since my mom passed. I miss her texts and calls. Her telling me how proud of me she was.

That lasts quite a while Jon....wish I had better advice for you. My dad died in 05 and my mom died in 06. Both were 62. I still miss and think about both of them daily. My daughter was 1 when my mom died and she never met our youngest.....my dad never met either. It's something that haunts me. I just had a dream the other night that my dad was back and met my kids. I introduced them and was asking my dad a bunch of questions. I woke up all fucked up and pissed because I couldn't remember what I asked him or what his answers were. It's been 12 years and it feels like yesterday.
The only real advice I can give you is to keep memories of her visible. I have things that belonged to both of them that I use pretty regularly. It helps. I have a ton of my mom's kitchen stuff we use and a bunch of my dad's tools I use. I always smile a little bit when I use his crooked ass screwdriver that he evidently used as a pry bar at some point. I have good screwdrivers but I enjoy using his bent ass screwdriver.

You may want to check again the status, it's projected to hit us Sunday around 2am. Unless it moves further west NO will get some wind and rain.

Had to change some of my plans. Cancelled staying the night, I'll be coming home late Friday. The rain bands and wind will be in our area starting Saturday late morning/afternoon and progressively get worst. Good news it's only projected to be a CAT 1. Honestly that's nothing to worry about, only with a CAT II that's close to CAT III status do we start considering leaving the area.

Well if it does delay our flights at least I took a couple recovery days off from work. We were scheduled to fly out after the Panthers game. We figured we would catch that and then leave since we are all from NC.

I've gotten 280 miles on my 14 gal tank. Haven't seen that since I first got it in 09 while it was stock. And that's with 10 passes at the track.
