    2001 Firebird V6 to LS1 swap

I am considering purchasing a 2001 Firebird convertible that has a V6 engine. What are the minimum mods required to install an LS1?

I don't have any background with Firebirds, but interested in learning.

    Thanks.

Before all of the parts you'll need get listed by everybody, I would recommend just getting a car that has an LS1 in it already lol but if you are up for the project I can list some things to get you started and in the right direction.

Take a look at this link... 3.4/3.8 V6 to LS1

Like Pat said theirs quite a few parts in addition to engine and transmission.

LS1 K member, Ls radiator, drive shaft, wire harness and ecm. Depending on transmission (A4 or M6) the harness for that, new fuel pump, dash cluster and tune.

I'm with the other guys on the amount of work thats needed, et al.

To be honest, if I was you, I'd consider going turbo in a similar manner that the Grand Nationals and the 89 T/A Pace Car editions were. If I remember right, the 3800 Series II still had iron block and heads and could survive boost pretty well. A good tuner could get some great power out of it without boosting the daylights iut of it.

For the record "just in case he thinks about going the boosted route" the Grand Prix 3800 supercharger will not bolt on to the 3800 that was in the Camaro and Firebird. Just throwing that out there...

Thanks Everyone - Your answers definitely helped me out !!

I appreciate the quick responses, the LS1 swap would be way more than I was willing to do.... but now the turbo route has me intrigued! Thanks for the ideas, I'll do some more searching on the forum and read through the links on the turbo mods.
