Made sense to me when I looked into it. We used to run a dirt track car back in the mid-90's equipped with a K&N air filter and breather. We also had a pre-filter that encircled the air cleaner element and breather. On our first tear down, we found the motor full of dirt and the bearings were all scored. That ended the whole oiled filter thing for me.

It does make sense. It's not something I've had to think about in my other cars. But, most were 1969 and older

I've had quite the leaning lesson with this car...

Same here on the learning curve. If it was up to me, I would unload all our modern cars and the newest one in the fleet would be a '74. The only one I might not be able to part with is our T/A -- I am infatuated with the damn thing.

I hear ya! 74 would be a good cut off point

I'm actually getting pretty attached to the Camaro too. More than I thought I would. I really never thought I would own a car this new. But, I'm finding it has its perks

My heart still belongs to the classics though.

I bought mine from CompSyn and have only good things to say about it. The fit in the box is super tight (a good thing), and I'm convinced it is an improvement over the oiled K&N I used to run. If you are running a stock filter right now, do yourself a favor and buy the Amsoil air filter. A slight performance improvement over the K&N, and a whole lot easier maintenance with no out-of-pocket expenses for cleaners and more oil. That alone makes it a better deal. The K&N is good, but the Amsoil is a bit better (and oil-free).
