    Amsoil Air Filter

I had a K&N for 5 years before switching to the Amsoil. I got sick of buying cleaner and oil since with my FTRA my filter would be dirty every 3,000 miles. Amsoil can be vaccumed out or blown out with low PSI 20 psi or so there is no shit to buy. After inital look at the Amsoil, I would say it doesn't look special. Looks like a Fram except blue in color since it uses nano fiber technology. Once side by side with the K&N, it looks to have deeper pleats and more filtering surface. Its super easy to clean and the price at roughly $40 dollars is cheaper then a K&N and in the long run, I will probably save hundreds of dollars since no cleaner to buy. Don't let its plain jane looks fool you, its a good filter. I don't know if it flows any better but it traps more dirt keeping the engine clean is excellent.

After reading some of Sarge's posts on this topic, I switched over to the Amsoil unit. Agree with everything you stated and am happy I do not have to mess with an oiled filter anymore. Plus, at the time of my purhcase they had a 2 for 1 special going so now I have a spare for future use.

Thats when I bought one for my Sierra. I can now hear the air flow when I get on it. Kind of like a howl sound.

Yes the blue filter media is ultra fine glass nanofiber from Donaldson. Nanotechnology is extremely small technology at the nanometre scale which equals one billionth of a meter.

    What's it mean?

Filters that filter out extremely fine partials and don't load up like traditional paper filters.

Note: Cellulose is a term used for paper

Video - “The Absolute Facts About Air Filtration”

While we are on the topic of air filtration, lets quickly touch on oil filtration as well.

The late lubrication engineer, George Morrison, independently tested the Amsoil EaO oil filter against a OEM type oil filter on his personal vehicle, a 2001 Toyota Sequoia with 159,000 total engine miles.

This is what he found with the Amsoil oil filter VS. the OEM filter:

    1) A 93% reduction in particulates
    2) Used engine oil (filtered by the Amsoil oil filter) is cleaner than the oil which came out of the quart bottle
    3) The ISO cleanliness is reduced from 18/17/15 to 14/13/11 with the Amsoil EaO oil filter.

Work Cited: BITOG: Second Partticle Counts Complete - link

"And I would also agree that the Amsoil EaO, Mobil 1 and Pure One are superb filters with the EaO superior in every performance aspect simply due to its 100% microglass medium construction vs. the glass/cellulose blend used in the Mobil 1 and Pure 1 filters." - George Morrison, STLE CLS, 2/28/2008 - link

Click the top thumbnail to the left of the video screen. They are in short segments and you just click on the next one in the column to keep watching the entire video.

    Post Regarding Air Flow

I recently found this information on air flow from Amsoil:

“Ea media has 3 times the airflow of cellulose filters and is equal to wet gauze filters at the very low 0.5 inches of restriction.”

So according to Amsoil, the EAA air filter removes 50 times more engine killing dust particles and is “equal” in air flow to a K&N wet gauze filter.

Even better, no solvents or oils to buy for the Amsoil EAA filter.
