The sales driver wouldn't be biased towards Interstate batteries would he? LOL. Just sounds odd to me that people are saying leaking terminals on delco batteries are so common. With 10 different cars in my garage using them over the last 25 years I have yet to see this happen. Larry.

Not sure how a review post gets out of hand like that but that was ridiculous.

The A/C Delco battery rep stopped at my shop last month and we talked about this and he said that they were aware of this failure and have sinced beefed up the battery pole areas.

Optima is nice but expensive. I think those are more for car stereo applications.

my ac delco battery spilled acid all over the positive terminal. It was so bad that i couldnt get the positive cable off so i had to replace the whole positive cable. I work at a gm dealership and the mechanics all hate the ac delco batterys. They all say the leak acid from the positive terminal.

Keep the receipt - my diehard gold replacement for the delco didn't make it past 24 months...and I'm in Florida.

    Ok, Ill ask here.

What is so good about Optima batteries? What am I paying for? How much do they weigh?

out side of being a gell cell that will not spill, nothing special that i can see. They weigh the same, and have the same ratings as a standard battery. So as far as ive seen, there really is nothing that overly special.

That's basically what I read in Consumer Reports and another mag. Not that they were bad batteries, but there were better, cheaper choices.

I've never had a problem with AC Delco Batteries. However, my friend did have his start leaking in his Silverado, but it was a pretty old battery I believe.

Consumer Reports rated the Autocraft Titanium as the best batter in one of their battery reviews. Interstate batteries are also very good, a lot of people swear by them.

No experience with Optima, I've heard both good and bad stories about those.

Jesus, then why do people pay so much money for them? They even weigh the same? Jeez...

For the Optima: It may have something to do with the 120 minute reserve time?...i hope!?

I haven't had any issues with my battery yet. I will take a closer look at it though.

Optima red top is rated at 720 CCA, LS1's were supposed to be 690 according to my helms - the stock delco in mine from the factory was 525, a V6 battery.
