What Turbo kits are avialable for the F- Body?

For all the guys who want to turbocharge their ride, what company should I pick or start with? This thread is meant to present all the options for turbocharging. Please feel free to add more links, suggestions, or testamonies.

www.ststurbo.com : good for beginners, but can be very potent systems

http://turbochargedpower.com/ : more $ than an sts, but offers big hybrid turbos

http://www.innovativeturbo.com/ : a place for boost controlers and custom thumper turbos

http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/ : some have you guys have seen the C5 systems, but they also offer GTO systems... No F-Body!

If it doesn't have a turbo or a V8, it doesn't belong on the road.

Hey guys look it came back from the shop! I still need a bigger wing though...

The ohio kit has my attention at the moment. Front mount kit capable of supporting decent sized turbos and last I heard keeps all accessories. TTI kit has amazing results but its pricey. TTI also has a street kit, just use the link above and look around on their site. Havent heard much about PTK but its an option and I figured I'd throw it out there.

I keep hearing about ground clearance issues with the PTK system. The PTK had my eye until the OFI kit came out. Joel has been patient with me and answered all my questions, so I'm pretty sure I'll be ordering from OFI when I'm ready. I'm still loooking for more pics of the whole kit installed on the car.

OFI will also ship the whole kit out in a couple weeks, PTK has an 8-10 week wait.

I have the demo car for the ofi kit. It made 492hp/528tq on a stock motor w/springs + retainers and a 67mm @ 8psi. Much more fun to drive now.

Just a quick heads up. APS will design and produce a F body intercooled twin turbo system, should be available stateside by July 07 with a little luck.

Thanks for the update! Do you know if this system will parallel the C5's layout? An F body with a front mount is scary!

The APS F body TT system will certainly have front mounted turbos and most likely a large single front mounted intercooler. It will be a few months before I can post any pics though I will as soon as the TT system in near completion.

TTi has my vote. Over 650hp to the wheels (in an auto car) with a street kit that retains the AC.

Build your own system. There are plenty of resources available on the topic. It's really just a lot of plubming. Of course, you do need to know how to weld, or have a friend that welds. Why pay thousands for a bunch of tubing that can be fabricated by almost anyone?

Any way you do it, by the time you get everything right, you'll probably have spent at least 8-12 thousand (fuel sys,tune,clutch/tranny,rearend, motor). You can't half ass a turbo setup. You'll always want more. Get the biggest turbo you can fit so you don't have to upgrade later.

    you're the newb.

keep taking your car to a shop and over paying because you lack the ability to build your own kit.

the biggest $ is the turbo itself.

    lmfao
I'm the idiot? You got banned from ls1tech for being stupid and then you come over here and get temporarly banned in the first week for being stupid. I'm sure you"ll be back for a short stay then be permanetly banned.
A decent new turbo big enough to feed a stock ls1 will cost 1000 dollars. John Deere turbos aren't very efficient nor will they support much power(I've seen one on a fox body).

I've got 3000 in just hot/cold side steel, air to water intercooler, heat exchanger,67mm turbo and radiator. I got all fabrication free as I donated my car to design the kit on. Add fuel pump and injectors-500/tune-500.
So there's 4000 dollars and not 1 dollar is labor(except tune but software to diy is more then that). Not sure if you know much about f-body's but the stock A4 or stock clutch will not hold up to boost very long. Figure that and a rear end that will be breaking soon.

That should last you a little while until #7 piston breaks and then you can go forged.

Just to throw this out there to cool the flames of passion here,

    http://www.trtturbos.com

Seems to have some good looking kits there that come in several stages.
Im wondering if any one knows about it.
I came across them by accident in Google search.

I like the front mounted intercooler, but i like my front the way it is.
These are still STS rear mounted systems.
The stages run from $4,200 to $13,000. You get more than just the STS kit though so make sure you know what you want.
    Im getting the base kit.

Oh and Fabrication is where hot rodding came from isnt? making your own stuff, testing it out, finding out what went wrong, showing off what went right, thinking of new ways to go faster. That kind of stuff?

Bolt ons are nice, but the real talent is when you can say
"Hey, I MADE this, not some shop or company."
THats my 3cents.... some else gives the 2cents around here already
