    What should I do???

My car has 133K miles on it. I'm going on active duty orders Next week. My car's paid for, so when I get back, I'll have lots of money to play with it. I want to get a Supercharger. I am not really familiar with the different ones, or how well FI would work with my cam. I was hoping to get a procharger.

It has a lot of miles on it, but has never gotten anything less than synthetic every 3K miles. Is it safe to put an SC on my engine with this many miles on it or should I go ahead and replace it? I want to start getting the parts together before I get back so I'm just asking for advice now. There are a ton of different routes I could go I know. Thanks for any ideas guys.

Do a compression check. If all the cylinders are within 10% of one another, I wouldn't worry about anything.

These motors are pretty reliable if well maintained.

I assume you just plan on throwing the S/C on there and running the recommended max. psi for a stock bottom end?

It depends on how much money is 'lots' and how much of it you're willing to commit to the car. I'll second 35th on doing the compression test, because there certainly are high mileage cars running FI (and some that have had FI for a good portion of their life).

However, it wouldn't be a terrible idea to yank the motor and freshen/forge since you've gotten a good amount of use out of the internals already. Definitely not implying it's necessary, but if money permits it certainly wouldn't be wasteful to update everything, particularly if it's a DD and reliability is a concern. Plus you'd potentially be ready to up the boost if the mood strikes down the road. It's all a question of money though.

Just my humble opinion, good luck with whatever you decide and best of luck in the meantime!

Yeah, I may just end up getting a crate motor and selling this one. I dunno. I have already done everything to the car but the rear end which I plan on doing. I plan on spending about 10K more on the car.

You are right, because I just got my H/C done about half a year ago and now I want more. It never ends.

I will disagree with that one. My car has been at the same bolt on power level for 5 years now, no desire to do anything more to it really either.

Your statement implies no one is ever happy with what they have. I don't believe that to be true.

I've been researching a little at work during downtime. I'll probably go with a crate motor with forged internals that way I dont have to fool with rebuilding this one. They aren't too bad on the price and I'll be able to sell this one for at least 800$.

You are content with your power level because your cat sits in the garage 24/7

I have bigger interests, that is why I don't throw any further money at the Camaro.
