Twin Turbo Install problems

Many problems.
Here is the thread
gto twin turbo build
Read Roger Chapmans explanation. Told me this all happened when I had it transported in an enclosed trailer. Oil out the BOV is normal. BOV is between the intercololer and the TB.
I received the car tuesday 8/18/09. A few no help e-mails and one no help call. I waited until today, Friday 8/21/09 (after no resolve was reached) to post this warning for others.

Here is some of the problems. Any suggestion besides ripping it off are welcome.

My car is slightly quieter than open headers. Not quiet is an understatement.
Remember customer wants quiet?

the Install.
7 tp 10 days was the contract. A little over a month later my car arrived back here.

First drive. Car smokes. Does not have the power it had when I sent it.
Next day take it to a local hot rod shop to see what the hell.

Time I got there, stumbling and missing all the way.
The rear of the car is soaked in oil. The exhast is spitting out oil and oil is dripping from the BOV where the charge is sending oil into the engine.
Had to drive as easy as possible. Any throttle leaves a trail of back smoke. I did floor it once. Huge plume of back smoke. Twice cars got close behind me. They quickly backed way off after getting sprayed with oil. Illegal as hell to be driving the car at all. I will not crank it again until...

Intake manfold has a leak all around the valley. Spray brake cleaner anywhere around the intake manifold and it changes the idle. Almost kills it.
Did not really have to do that, you can hear it plainly over the loud exhast. Its a bad leak. Manifold will have to come off and be redone...thats easy!

Charge pipes form the turbos on both sides ride on the 1/2 shafts. Sounds like a muffler dragging. No way to fix this. I guess QWKGTO did not expect me to put gas in it. Worse with gas but it dragged when I got it with the gas light on. Aluminum chage pipes both sides are almost burned through after the drive to the hot rod shop and back.

Had to park it outside, it has a fuel leak. Smells strong of gas inside and outsid the car. First time my car has spent the night outside in 4 years.
My car had never been driven in the rain.

Front clip is not installed correctly. Body lines are as much as 1/2" out.

I could go on and on. I am ripping it off today and restoring my car to the clean quite fairly powerful car I sent.

I can not run it as it is. Burning oil, leaking gas, leaky intake manifold.
Runs like sh*t. Hardly runs at all!!

I have alot more pictures of this crap. Hard to show a black cars rear is soaked in oil. It is!! Exhaust just drips oil at idle..as does the BOV.
Thats oil on that metal cross member by the BOV. that was clean. I show one charge pipe rubbing the 1/2 shaft. Both rub...I have many more photo's.

I will post a video later. Nothing tells the story like a smoking oil blowing, metal grinding, video.
Maybe he can do LS2's. Failed hoirribly on my LS1.
Bad design from the start. I did not understand he was doing a STS type install. Told me the turbo's would go where the mufflers were.

Roger Chaman told me all this happened in transport. 6500.00 twin turbo install. What a mistake. costly mistake.
He did add BMR 1/2 shafts, CV's and an aluminum drive shaft, that seems fine. that was 1400.00 extra. I paid 8600.00 total for this crap I am going to take off. 1578.00 transport. 120.00 in parts I had to ship to Roger. Bought him a 279.00 wide band for his shop so he could do this. http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lm1.php
Then paid 60.00 in shipping.

Wow, that really sucks. Hopefully you and QWKGTO can work something out, so that you can get your car right.

Its a person that goes by QWKGTO here that did the install.
I am in Florida and he is Ohio. Sending for what I thought was going to be a quality upgrade in power cost me 600. something to have transported up there, then 815.00 to get it back.

Front clip is pushed down buy the intercooler bungs.

not as bad on the right. It was perfectly smooth.

This is a float. When not using it for fun.. It acts as a barrier to keep me from accidentally backing into my jet ski behind where I park the GTO. Made quick work of staining the float tube.

There are tie wraps holding up the charge pipe in places.
I was guranteed I did not lose ground clearance with this install.

Installer posted after me in the orginal thread that oil in the BOV was normal.
I am no turbo specialist...but that is not normal. Only 2 more feet of pressurized air/oil mixture to my throttle body..should be just O2
I would like to send all the parts back and get some of my money back.
8600.00 did get me a solid drive shaft and BMR 1/2 shaft, CV shafts, That was 1400.00. Upgraded fuel....that leaks. I am going to try and find the leak.
The scavenge pump has to suck up 12" through 2 (1 from each turbo drain)about 2' of lines into a tee and another 12". Then it has to pump to the valve cover. It can't do it.
Its running wide open. Making a terribly annoying constant high pitched whine.

I do not know what I can do but warn others. Why would I even consider sending it back to him. He had it for almost 5 weeks. Contract agreement was 7 to 15 days.
That cost me 199.00 for canceling a flight I had made for 8/1/09...14 days after he got it.

All I get from him is: its something simple, happened in transport, its supposed to do that..bullsh*t.
I do not have of the warranty papers. I asked for them. I do not even have an invoice other than a legally biding e-mail of the work to be done.

What oil are you using? and are you letting the turbos warm up/idle down? I had Roger do an install on my car and I'm not having these problems; the turbo's drip a bit when they're cold, but i just let the car warm up for 5mins. and they'll stop.

I let it warm as Roger suggested.
It smoked for an hour of driving....and all the other problems listed
SAE 30 is in it per Roger.
I waited 3 days for a resolve and all I got were it was good when it left here.
BOV is supposed to blow oil.... give me a break. That is not true if you don't know.

I researched QWKGTO before I sent him my baby.
He can do a 2005 or 6. Said he could do mine then had problem after problem for a month. All because its a LS1 and has the one side dual exhaust.
When he sent it here he said it was perfect.
After 30 minutes of driving to the shop it was still dripping oil.
The system on my car is a mistake and poor craftmanship from end to end. To many problems even attempt to repair.
The welds look nice and that was my main concern...based on reseaching him.

It was based on your write up and anothers that I let him touch my car.
Huge mistake on my part. My car is junk until I get the OEM parts from him and redo everything back to stock.
Oem parts returned is another promise I am waiting on. I asked for them up front.

I am out 6500.00 and my car is ruined. Body panels off, engine barely runs and if it does start, it blows oil badly. 50 weight will not fix that.
No room to get the charge pipe off the 1/2 shafts.

Sorry to hear that, and it sounds like you may have had a turbo let loose. I'd check for play in the turbines, if one did take a sh*t I believe it is under a manufacturers warranty. Out of curiosity did you ask him to tape your exhaust or is it all exposed? The reason I ask is the the turbos that he uses like to be hot before they completely seal; Mine's taped from the collectors back and they heat up rather quick. I'd just really hate to see someone throw out 6500 if it can be fixed. But it's your car.
As for the charge pipes hitting the cv I don't know what to tell you, mine are routed out of the way up towards the d-shaft tunnel and parallel the exhaust down the center.

To be honest I don't recall, they're non-ball bearing, oil cooled though, so they are tempermental. They do make damn good power if they work, it sucks blue2050 is having issues with one of his.

You are correct. Its my car and if you knew me you would know I do not put junk on my cars.
One turbo was definaly bad, when I took it off the transport.
Both turbos blowing oil up the charge pipe!! an through the engine out the exhaust.

I took it all of my car yesterday and what a joke.
Oil poured out of every charge pipe, the intercooler was full of oil.
Oil all over my basement floor.

The reason the front clip did not fit right was the bumper was barely hanging on. Not sure if this was just a miss or he had to lossen it for room for the intercooler. Either way the structure if the car is compromised.
The foam bumper cover for impact is removed.

I removed the pipes from either side of the inter cooler, it fell to the floor. The two clips for bolting it to the cross member still attached to my car.
Both weld tabs were broken.
Anybody who has this needs to check the oil feed line. Mine was riding on the driveshaft and laying on the exhast pipe.
Maybe thats engineered to keep the oil warm?

Rather than design a PCV system Roger puts a spring on the dipstick.

I could go on for pages. I have 100's of pictures. The whole system is junk.
Junk does not belong on my GTO!!!! I do not buy junk. This was a mistake. A costly mistake sending my car to QWKGTO.
Hopefully someone else will not make the same mistake I did.

Just have to finish the exhaust and tune it now...add oil. Change spark plugs.
It will not start now. I assume oil fouled plugs. No codes, just missing readings.
I will have my stock car back soon..with a few scars, 8600.00 poorer so far.
What a costly mistake

I think the fuel system is OK now. It had a leak near the pump. I fixed it....easy mistake but an important one not to miss.
Stainless works headers are OK. I am going to see them but that was a nice install.

I do not come here to bash or cause drama.
I come here for info and in this case post a warning for others.

That IC will be coated on the inside and it's effectiveness will be ruined. Make sure to get that thing cleaned out well with a solvent.

No worries,

I will not reinstall one part QWKGTO (aka RCFASTGTO) installed on my car.

Need exhaust and a tune now.
Flying out of the country soon. I will not get it fixed until I return.

2 months ago I had a fairly powerful nice clean car. -8600.00 to QWKGTO.... I have car coated in oil that does not run at all.

The day before my car was sent to QWKGTO aka rcfastgto.

yes I responded,he has several post now,I offered to replace the turbos, some people would rather bash then fix an easy problem, those turbos made very good power, when they left my shop they were fine,I have the video of the car before it was shipped, things beyond my control, car can be fixed ,he bitched about the exhaust being loud he knew this from the getgo and had planned on having a local shop install mufflers,I HAVE THE EMAILS TO BACK UP MY STORIES AS WELL AS THE VIDEO!

Let me know your thoughts about the quite exhaust I want. Any muffler that can go upstream. I found one that drops flow 5%.
I don't know. Just looks like there is no room for mufflers in the rear.
I will figure it out. Just want you thoughts.

Cheers

I had no choice but to put mufflers on it myslef. You told me you could not do it. I would have paid you to do it and you know it.
Just a slap in the face you go and mufflers on your car.

My car is quiet now. It does not start.

Quote Roger Chapman:
"Tthe drive shaft is made by Inland impire and the headers are stainless works, where did you come up with me saying I make them?lol I wish!
what you will get is stainless 1 3/4 primary stainless works headers,( not coated)v-band clamps from header collector back(so it seals right and can be taken apart and put back together.)3 inch stainlees steel exhaust back to turbos, then from turbos out, stainless steel flanges, back into the factory tips, think I am installing mufflers ( as you stated you want quiet) intercooler tubing from front to turbos is all aluminum,as well as new 3 inch intercooler, fast fuel rails ,injector for boost, all fuel related lines and fittings for complete return fuel system, car tuned and ready to drive.I am installing ,your new drive shaft as well.complete turbo KiT installed is $6500 anything added of course add to the price."

Stop trying to make me look like the bad guy. You fucked up my car and took me for alot of money.
I do ot want your junk back on my car period. You will never touch my car again.
