The smooth bellows doesn't really do a whole lot imo. Rather than spend all that money, hit your local building supply company and buy a Fernco coupling if you want to replace the bellows. That being said, a lot of fitment issues seem to result from the smooth bellows and Fernco couplings as they do not have the same flex as the stock piece. Just my .02 on the issue.

well this might be a dumb question...but does an aftermarket lid replace the resonator as well? cuz i noticed that most ls1's dont have the big as oversized resonators...

A lid is a lid, is a lid, is a lid, is a lid, is a lid. SLPs have fitment issues sometimes, avoid that and buy one.

Ok -- I think I understand your question. Behind the stock lid is a small rubber bellows that leads to the resonator. This is simply deleted when you buy an aftermarket lid as the new lid attaches directly to the MAF. Behind the MAF is another rubber bellows that leads to the throttle body. This is what you replace with either smooth bellows or a Fernco coupling.

After getting the smooth bellows, I quickly realized why the stock piece is accordion style.

yes!!! my car came with the slp bellow and i put a stocker on there, way too stiff
I had a blackwing on my z28 and it fit like a glove, couldn't find anything better. Went to put it on my ws6 and it fit like crap, the regular slp one that came with it fit much better. Some work and some dont.
Would like to hear more on the JAAM kit, in the end i'll probably end up putting some foam strips around the opening in the hood for a little better seal.

I think I paid $89 for mine. Quite happy with it other than the fact my Ram Air decal does not want to adhere to the textured plastic.

My Blackwing SLP lid was around $250 I believe and didn't even come with a filter....

I hear they are next to impossible to find now though
