    ProCharger Build 385 sbc

Okay. I have a SBC 385 ci with 11:1 raito. The compression is alittle high but i was still wondering if i could procharge it with out blowing the motor. I put maybe 500 miles on it yearly so im not worried about the life but with 11:1 raito is it safe?

How much boost did you plan on running?

The LS1 346ci is at 10.5:1 and can safely run 8PSI on stock internals.

The guy to ask really is Steve (Frost) on here. He's a resident tuner.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but typically higher boost levels people are running compression at like 9.5.

High compression or high boost...pick one is the saying.

With that boost level my guess is that running pump gas is going to be not good. I could be wrong though.

Do you plan on running methanol?

Yeah I plan on building a new set up but for the time being I wanted to boost lol.

I will run 8 pounds with my current set up and 108 Octane for gas. I didnt have plans but if someone sells me on it i might lol. I'm not to sure what the meth will do?

Methanol has a octane rating of 114 so it helps with thermal efficiency and increased power output.

This is why it's so highly used in racing.

Is it an additive? or does it take the place of gas?

They sell methanol injection kits that supplement with pump gas. The methanol kit uses a single nozzle injector and MAP to know how much methanol to use based on boost level. So basically it's a progressive system.
