    Is my thinking flawed.

I'm considering a built 402 with about 475rwhp. and forged internals for about 6 grand. Also, a D1SC with about 7 lbs of boost for 6 grand. Add a textralia or possibly LS9 clutch(not sure if it's possible) to my built trans and I should have a daily drive that kills terminaters and ls9's. All with about 13mpg city and 18 on the highway. So for under 15 grand, I shall have my dream (a daily driver, reliable 10 sec car.)

    Uhmmm what??

you can do a heads and cam swap on your ls1 and have 475rwhp. and that'll save you about 12 grand. or just put the blower on your stock motor at 6psi and be well over 475rwhp.

my point is, if thats your power goal there are other better ways to get it without spending a boat load of money like swapping engines and shit. just my 2cents though.

How bout a forged 370 w/ D1sc combo. That combo alone would get you over 600rwhp.

I know that I could probably add a G5X3 and a fast to my set up and get the 475. I'm looking for sortof that stock drive, feel and reliability. Sort of like buying a LS9. I have 400rwhp now. If I put on a blower, I just don't see my stock bottom lasting very long with 600RWHP. So. I'm just going to add some nitrous until it blows. Then I'll order a shortblock from TSP. I chose the 402 because I didn't see much diff in the price between a 402 and 370. A 402 with a mild cam should drive stock at the cost of a few ponies. Then I'll add the blower because I'll already have forged internals that should be able to take up to 700rwhp.

not sure what you are asking, why not add a turbo setup, for example you said wanted stock reliabilty,I have the stock cam stock bottom end ls2,with 13 psi my car runs 10.6 at 129-131 mph car gets 26-33 mpg out on road.

tsp, good place i have bought quite a few things from there. But ask people about their engines, i have not heard some good things, but word is there is a new builder so i am not sure. I was going to buy an engine from there a little while ago, but ended up not.

any hydraulic cammed lsx is streetable; turbo, na, blown, 300 hp, 1000 hp, doesnt matter. make as much power as you can and hold on. forged 402 will handle anything you can afford to throw at it.l when you're not gunnin it you will be getting good mileage. dont have any illusions of good mileage numbers becaue if you use the power, it's not gonna be good. if you drove the car around at low r's and no pedal you can still get stock numbers, but none of us can do that.
