Are you talking about the new Iron LSX block from GM Performance?? If so, those things are rated at 2500hp.....

As long as you don't get one with a hosed rear cylinder... those blocks are out of production because of (pick your rumor and insert here).

Most of the fast guys are moving over to ERL's modded OEM blocks.

I know they are national back order....where are you hearing about the rear cylinder issue? I've only seen a couple and to date I dont know of any issues....will be curious about any problems with this block.....was it something GM came out and said there was an issue with?

Its an iron 6.0 block, same as the Ls1 except for being iron and having a larger bore. I've seen them handle quite a bit of power, north of 700whp.

Are you talking 1,000 flywheel or to the ground b/c they are two totally different ballparks. It might be able to survive flywheel, but if your gonna spend that kind of money, you should probably get an LSX. But I wouldn't get in a hurry on ordering b/c I believe the LSX's are backorder like a mother.

Dame its just i messed up my LT1 that I was building up and Im looking for a block that can take it. If the LQ9 cant handle the 1k on the ground (RWHP) then I wont use it. the LSX blocks are back orderd till like next year. lol and they are too expensive. Im looking for a strong block that can take 1K to the ground.

Well, if the LSX is too expensive, I don't know what to tell ya. You gotta pay to play and 1,000 to the ground takes a ton of money. There's the LS7 block, but I don't think it can handle that kind of power.

everyone says they want 1000HP and 99% of those that say that have not done their homework and have no idea what they are asking for. Sorry if I sound like as ass, I have just seen 500 of these posts scattered across the web. "Hi, I wnat 1K HP and I have a budget!" Even aluminum LS2 blocks can hold that power, the block isn't a limiting factor, but you aren't gonna see it without lifting the heads on ANY factory LS setup outside of the new 6 blocks like the ERL, LSX, etc.

I got a budget of about 15k. I know its expensive to get to 1kHP but it seems that 1kHP is about 30k buck's. I got the turbo system to buy as well. Im just trying to keep cost down if I can.

My engine builder has told me the samething. Im trying to take it one step at a time. Block first, then Internals then Heads, then the Turbo System. So he tells you whant 1kHP then start off with a Dart block and have 30,000 buck's.

Well on an LS setup, block first means consider holding the heads down too, and you aren't likely to hit 1krwhp without a block with 6-bolt heads. 14-15K will get you the long block you need, but you will still need the turbo, piping, and accessories, the mega $$ fuel system, tuning solution, and a drivetrain.

I think that if i go LS ill spend more than if I use a diffrent motor. I just got off the phone with my engine builder and he say's to back down on my HP goal and take a look at 700hp b/c he say's 15k is too little for what I want. he say's that if I do go LS I will spend alot more. I dont know were to go right now.

700hp is than you probably will be able to use unless this is a drag only car, I have a feeling you'd be plenty happy with 700.

A 6.0L iron block will handle 1000rwhp fine and will work as a street/strip car. What internals you use will matter as well. Over 1200 I would look at the LSX or warhawk block.
