i just got 1 question for you. how come you made the intake plenum square instead of round? i would think that with 4 sharp corners that it would create a lot of turbulance on the way in. i was watching this show on tv where they made a twin turbo dodge ram and the company made a special intake which consisted of 2 tubular intake plemums (i think it was on speed tv). just had a thought and wanted to see why it was made square.

i cant think of any aftermarket efi manifold that doesnt use square plenum. what page is his intake on? (i really dont wanna search to look). plenum volume is more important than shape of plenum for "flow characteristics". flow characteristics are most important on runners, valve bowls, and combustion chamber shape. manifold makers most times seek the greatest plenum volume which is easiest achieved (because of clearance and ease of construction) through the square/rectangular shape. a high volume plenum is unlikely to be a flow restriction no matter the shape. hope this makes sense.

nice question, but I don't think it really matters seeing how his motor "broke" a dyno at 1400 HP...lol. Don't think an extra 10-15 HP is gonna make any kind of noticeable difference on it.

GORILLAVETTE: Dam good build, read the crap out of this thread and I am very interested to see what you put to the wheels. Very impressive!!!

here are your round plenums that you said you have never seen.

it looks like the one on the gorillavette was made by hand, if he just made the thing round with the same volume, i am sure it would create less turbulance, there for more hp.

That is a great looking plenium. My intake was fabricated by hand and has been duplicated on several other builds. I don't think it would really impact the power a great deal but every HP is one ya didn't have before. I would think you would need to make a cnc intake to get a "round" shape. Now that is really high dollar about three times what I spent. You just have to weigh out the expense to the benefit.

i'm sure you used flat sheet of metal to fab those up, you probably could have gone to a sheet metal fabrication shop and have them roll it to the size you need, it wouldn't cost to much. its aluminum right? i do sheet metal work and we have a roller to make down spouts for gutters, (its hand cranked though).if you really think about it, every other piping on your intake is round so it would make sense that the intake manifold would be somewhat round too. the plenum came off of a dodge dakota, google "gale banks dodge dakota" it set a land speed record at the bonneville salt flats using those intake manifolds, just imagine what it could do for you, if i had the money i would custom make my intake too.
