1982 Fairmont Futura -Front Mounted Turbo-

A few months back I had started building a Ford Fairmont Futura. The car started off as a joke on a budget but quickly evolved into a really cool piece! Unfortunately I sold the car last month, but I am still in contact with the owner and I will be finishing up some fab work in the near future. Either way here is the car and a little background...

The car was very original and very rust free. 200ci inline with a C4 transmission. It had a really nice patina and was absolutely anemic. Perfect candidate for an LS swap right?

We used a JW UltraBell to adapt the C4 mock-up transmission to the LSx and based a front motor plate off the OEM offset. Being a budget based build, we used the stock k-frame with minimal clearance for the f-body oil pan. Factory motor mount pads were cut off the k-frame to make some room.

Next up, the decision to stuff the Turbo dead center in the grill was finalized and we went straight to work!

With all the chassis side welding and fab done, we were able to strip the engine bay and prep it for paint. At this point, all the legit components started falling into place and the hot side was fabricated.

A few more odds and ends, new intake, new vacuum lines, a giant hole in the hood and etc...

Probably my favorite part of this build was matching the Holley manifold to the hood! I broke out the spray cans and tried my best to match the patina. I think the end result speaks for itself LOL

Here is a video of the first test-fire.
