It is nice to have the option to do both but open carry only works in rural areas where everyone is ok with firearms.

I'm in shock that Texas didn't already have open carry I mean, don't they pride themselves on being "the wild west" down there? Oh and I cant wait to see how OC would go over in Dallas

I'm pretty surprised about that too...I actually thought they already had open carry.

Nope...only long guns were allowed to be open carried when off your private property (land not vehicle).

That explains why Texas was getting so much attention for open carrying rifles recently...never once saw somebody open carry a gun, it was always an AR or something like that.

Go up to the northwoods during gun deer and everyone is open carrying long guns. Even in the towns and around the bars.

The open carry issue in TX was for handguns. Long guns was never illegal, contrary to what the anti-gun crowd thinks.

Hell even Delaware has OC. Rarely I see anyone do so
