Im in the market for an AR-15 and was wanting your expertise on what would be a good starter rifle for me?

OR, you could always look for a Olympic Arms Plinker Plus. They usually run $5-600 new at the gun shows. I dont care if someone shit talks Olympic Arms, as they are THE largest AR manufacturer in the US. Other people will bitch that the barrels are chromemoly and not chrome lined. Chrome lining is for machine guns.

OR you could order this from your dealer- http://midwestguntrader.com/viewad.a...01151975102076 , which comes from these guys http://www.jsesurplus.com/
then build a lower, or buy an assembled one, and you are into this gun for $475 before shipping , taxes and transfer fees.

^^^+1 on Olympic. I've have had 2 AR's. One was an Olympic and no complaints from me. The only malfunctions I had were from a bad magazine. The other is an Olympic arms lower receiver and a wilson combat upper. It too kicks ass! If I were in the market for another AR, I wouldn't bat an eye an buying another Olympic Arms weapon.

    theyre the same gun.

Honestly, a DPMS A2 or OlyA2 is just as good as any A2 by the afformentioned companies.

I have a Colt and it's really nice, but I feel you mostly pay for the name. My stepfather had a Bushmaster and I hate it. Find a budget and handle the guns in that range. Take them down if posible, just look them over.

Another gun I bought recently I really liked, is Sig 556.

Bushie has been having lots of QC problems lately, according to the armorer of a local PD.

My guess is he had an altercation with some higher power and lost.

Really if you go with any name brand you really wont go wrong. Every company will put out a not so great rifle every now and than but for the most part all of the major brands are are fairly close to the same quality for the guns in the same price bracket. And really if you get one that dosent work quite right it is usually a fairly easy and inexpensive fix. That being said I have had 8 different ARs not counting the colts i get issued and if I had to pick the most reliable one I have had it probably would be my 7 year old bushmaster. That gun has been ultra reliable. I also wouldn't pay the extra money for a Colt. I just dont find them to be worth the extra coin they charge for the name.

got a Rock River,Vulcan arms, and a DPMS

no problems with any of them but I would lean towards the Rock River with the DPMS in close second.

my dpms may be my favorite now that I have it setup the way I want it. You cannot go wrong with the Rock river though. They are priced well with many upgrades already and mine is extremely accurate and doesnt seem to care what you feed it they will all end up in the bullseye within a few hundred yards pretty easily.

check out ar-15 sales(Legal Transfers) that guy hooked me up with match trigger chrome lining, hogue grip and all for what I would pay for it without that stuff locally

Im looking at a Stag Arms AR-15 with 4 magazines, scope, bi-pod, and sling shipped for 800. Good deal? Also never been shot.

Nothing special whatsoever. Ive actually been looking to see what kind I could go with. Been recommended a Leopold mil-dot scope I saw at the local gun shop...think he was asking 350ish for it? Not sure how much I want to spend on it tho.

    Pics of future new toy...

At that price with the Leopold I'd jump if I were in the market.
