Our numbers grow
January 13th, 2010
Data released by the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) for the year reported 14,033,824 NICS Checks for the year of 2009, a 10 percent increase in gun purchases from the 12,709,023 reported in 2008.
So far that is roughly 14,000,000+ guns bought last year!
The total is probably more as many NICS background checks cover the purchase of more than one gun at a time by individuals.
To put it in perspective that is more guns than the combined active armies of the top 21 countries in the world. countries by number of troops
Of the NICS background checks preformed less than and average .005% were denied, showing, overwhelmingly, that law abiding American citizens are the ones buying guns and that criminals are getting their guns elsewhere.
14,033,824,000 billions rounds of Ammo
Assuming each gun buyer bought 1000 rounds of ammo for each purchase, and you and I know that it is way, way more than that, that would be easily 14,033,824,000+ billions rounds of ammo fired by USA gun owners.
What percent of people were killed or injured by this ammo…it is just to infinitesimally small for me to calculate?
Crime At Record Lows
This record year in firearms background checks show that Americans are solidly in-favor of exercising their civil right to Keep and Bear Arms.

I bought two this year just because my wife and I can carry and didn't have anything to carry. Wasn't worried about any Obama legislation.

The VA Tech shooting prompted me to grab up the FN 5-7. But it turns out, nothing came of it.
I think it was the Luby's shooting that Clinton used to get the assault weapons ban passed. At least the 10-round clip part. Am I right, or am I too drunk tonight?
I'll just add that our local success story, "Sports World" in Tulsa, owes Obama big time. Their gun counter has increased 50% in size, and its elbow-to-elbow in there lunch hour and on Saturdays. They have made bank.
And I'm happy for them.

Gun rules are a place where I am in disagreement with the dems and the Liberals. My biggest fear is that they might try to put a limit on the nuber of guns you can buy or even own. Or the ammount of ammo you can buy in a time period. So far Obama has not done anything except for casue a shit load of gun sales and an ammo shortage. Maybe we really do cling to our guns in hard times? I think I do. Actually I cling to my guns all the time. Gun collecting target shooting, and even hearing or learning about guns and ammo is one of my favorite pass times.

He is following the step by step process of "Life After America".....Socialism is to grow the Government in increments....making people "think" various Socialist programs only are for their benefit. Then the personal freedoms fall as the Government owns your ass with all the entitlement programs. Wake up.

Limiting the number of guns an individual can own would be a serious breach of freedom. Different guns serve different purposes. You've got deep concealment, medium concealment, hunting (of many varieties), plinking guns, collectibles, inherited guns... just to name a few categories. To place a limit would mean a revolt.
I seriously couldn't see the American public accepting it.
