Little video of my first match

Shot my first IDPA match last week and here is one of the stages we ran, had a lot of fun and actually shot pretty well and won my class for the day.

Good job on the stage win. Looks like fun! But please tell me, as a non-shooter, why did you backup to behind the wall? Was that just a prop for challenge/difficulty or was it something for safety purpose?

PS, yeah I don't know what IDPA stands for either... Sounds like Indiana something Police Association maybe?

I am no kind of police officer lol, IDPA is International Defensive Pistol Association, just a competition thing based on self defense. A group of guys I shoot with regularly do these matches so me and my roommate decided to try it out.

The barricade is just a obstacle of the stage forcing you to shoot from cover

haha yea I'm new to the whole thing so here is strait from there web site

    -What is IDPA?
IDPA as a sport is quite simply the use of practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated “real world” self-defense scenarios. Shooters competing in IDPA events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use. No “competition only” equipment is permitted in IDPA matches since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of an individual, not his equipment or gamesmanship.

Like I said it was a lot of fun and is pretty tough competition trying to find a balance between speed and accuracy. Watching the video for myself I can tell I need to hurry myself up on the non shooting parts lol

IDPA is one of many "shooting sports".... another similar one would be USPSA as they have a "stock" class of competition now...

One of the things I like most about it is that I only have a $40 holster, $25 mag holder, and had to buy one extra mag so I would have 3. That's all it takes to be competitive.
