junky ass hunt week....

Just spent the last 10 days bow hunting. Terrible week to go. 2 Saturdays ago I saw 10 deer.......the last 10 days I saw 4 total spending roughly 10 hours a day in the stands. Rut is over, tons of acorns down, and warm weather most of the time. Just missed it by a week and a half. Out of the 4 I saw there was only 1 that I would've even considered shooting and he was just a 6 point. The rest were either really small bucks or yearling does. Guess I'll be gun hunting again this year.

We are in Bow season here. A friend of mine butchers at the grocery store in his town, and does it privately in the barn behind his house.

Just spoke with him this evening.

24 butchered so far, 22 bucks, 2 does. One rack scored a 191, and he says there is one hanging thats bigger, still needing to be measured.

This is good news, as he had only done 6 this time last year.

But, I do not posses the inclination to bow hunt, rifle hunting satisfies me just fine. Therefore, I must wait a few more weeks to get my kills.

my team leader at work got a 8 point............with his toyota tundra.gun season since last sat. i image there were many good bucks taken over the 4 day holiday weekend.

talking to a game warden who was out trying to bust poachers last year... he came across a car parked on the side of the road who he though was poaching deer... here it was teenagers having sex in the back of the car...i asked him how many points the rack was worth and the bastard started laughing and spit his beer on my arm...

Thats part of hunting my friend, i remember some yrs. i would see nothing.

Got it last night. 30 yards, starboard side, downward impact about 30* into backstrap, exiting mid-side.

Marlin 336 30-30, Trashco 4x fixed scope, Winchester Super X 150gr.

The only movement after impact was falling to the ground.
