Does this sound right to you?

Make a long story short I bought a Lone Wolf Barrel for a G23 and put it in my G32 so I can shoot .40 cal instead of .357 just because it is cheaper and easier to find rounds.

My gun has never jammed but on my 3rd shot with the LW barrel it jammed.

I called LWD and they told me it was probably because I was using cheap ammo. I was using Winchester .40 cal 180 grain hollow points.

So can cheap ammo actually cause gun jams or what?

To describe the jam, the gun opened up like the magazine was empty and I looked at it and saw the bullet was halfway between the magazine but not quite all the way in the barrel. And yes I used a .40 cal magazine with the gun as well.

Sounds like the feed ramp may not be smooth enough, or that the ramp doesnt like hp ammo. Try cleaning and oiling the ramp with a qualiTY lube and retry, also try with fmj. if the fmj feeds proper and the hp continues to ftf, your query is answered.

^^^ That's likely, but it could also be a magazine issue. Check the lips for rough spots, and make sure the follower and spring are not binding. Between the feed ramp, magazine, bullet design, or exceedingly rough brass on the cartridge, your problem will be identified.

Out of curiosity though, did the caliber change require a different recoil spring?

To answer your question directly though; yes, cheap ammo can cause failures to feed because of various factors, bad bullet design, rough cases, high or low CUP pressure on the charge, etc.

Sounds to me like it was the new barrel + hollow points. Failure to fully feed.

Maybe put 200 rounds through it for a break-in and see if the problem persists.

Glock knows what they are doing. Lone Wolf? Maybe not so much.
