decent selling price for a S&W 642 airweight

My wife is deciding to sell her S&W 642 airweight since she carries her Glock 27 exclusivly now. It's got about 300 rounds through it (all JHP), no blemishes, still has everything that came with it new; the box, and all the paperwork, locking keys, and child lock, first fired brass and all . Local pawn shop wants to give her about 275 for it. I've seen them online ranging from 350 to 495, so trying to guage what the gun in this condition should sell for.

Just remember a pawn shop will not give you what its worth cause then they cannot make any money if they do so. I would advertise it for sale and get what its worth IMHO.

you can get a new one for low 400's, so lets say he put a price on a used gun at 400, and some jackass is going to come in and talk him down to 370.. he will make like a hundred dollars off of you if he gets lucky. You cant really fault him, he is in the business of taking advantage of people.

Thats right just like I stated in the above post, better off selling to someone else.

Yea, then all you have to do is find someone who wants the exact gun your selling. Pawn shops will take it for 275 for sure, or you could post it up for sale and if noone buys it sell it to the pawn shop.

Gunna have to try auction arms or something similar I guess. Never used one of those before I take they are like ebay for firearms. What's the deal on shipping fireams if I catch a sale, I know they have to be shipped to an FFL do the have to ship from one as well to start the transfer process?

Its not the law, normal citizens can ship to a FFL and only a FFL. the FFL does not have to accept guns from joe shmoe, however. The usual reason is because they need ID and people tend to not send a copy of their ID. So the answer is maybe.
