windows xp install

I have an acer laptop that came installed with windows vista. I had a copy from a friend that was oem because he bought it with a hard drive. Halfway through the install I came up with a pci.sys error. I dowloaded winxp pro with sp2 installed. I made a copy and mad e it bootable, no luck. Made a copy as an iso and no luck. I have 3 partitions. c: which is windows vista d:\my data
k: which is the secret vista back up. How do I get windows xo in this dang laptop?

If you can back up your data and good luck! I've got my disks split in two partitions XP and Vista. So if Vista ever pisses me off i delete the partition

I had an update dvd that came with the computer. I installed a key off the net so I could do vista ultimate business as they are all on the same dvd (like xp). But now I have to activate it in 3 days. Any keygens around?

They wont work for vista, because you'll have to regiester it, and if the key you "make" isnt in there system as being made yet, it'll lock your computer down right that second.
